The update has been finished for a few hours now, and most of the updates may seem well and put together, but when you go to use them they begin to not work. Many functions you try to do result in a
500 Internal Server Error

Now, one of the main reasons for this update must be to make the Nexon America Webpages much easier for casual gamers, but even after 15 or more hours of maintenance there still seems to be issues with this update that could get in the way of many players.
I hope they release a little announcement on this, just not more downtime..
It is 5:54 pm est and the Nexon portal and Games seem to be online, The Earning Free NX Section still seems to be on its way to be fixed, but it may just be a little error. Everything seems quite nice. The new portal does look better than the previous one. yey.

There will be a big maintenance that will have all Nexon.net games, forums, etc offline for 12 hours. Here are the full details:
Dear Players:
Nexon will be performing a maintenance to implement the new portal on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at 10 PM Pacific for approximately twelve hours. During this time, the following will be unavailable:
* All game servers
* All game, website and forum login
* All Nexon websites
* Nexon account registration
* All billing functions (including charging and spending NX and redeeming Nexon Game Cards)Please note that all games will come down and all game Start buttons will become disabled and will display the following message once the maintenance has started:
“We’re implementing our new portal! Check the websites for updates.
Once the maintenance has been completed, you will be able to access all of these functions as usual.

Yeah, They always seem to mess up the Eastern time, but we know. There was a scheduled maintenance last night, but there were some complication so that was not able to be posted, my apologies.
Some prolonged news that we have been unable to post for you guys due to some other complications: Poptag will be closing on July 14th. Open beta for Poptag began on 1/26/10 and now 1 year 5 months and 14 days later they will be officially closing North American service of Poptag. Here is the official announcement from the Poptag webpage:

It is with a heavy heart that the PopTag! team must announce that we will be closing the service effective Thursday, July 14, 2011. This was a difficult decision based on multiple factors including the ability to deliver new content regularly due to the limited resources we had available for the game. Based on these criteria, we felt that we could no longer deliver a satisfactory experience to our players.
Nexon America is truly grateful to our wonderful community of PopTag! players. Thank you all for your support.
There are many more Nexon games to check out, and we sincerely hope you all continue to be part of our family.
Please note that the PopTag! service will continue until July 14 with the following changes:
· Effective immediately NX items will no longer be available. However, the following NX game items will be available for in-game Lucci.
· Any PopTag! items purchased for NX currently in the possession of PopTag! players will be refunded. More details will be available on July 14.

An All-New Nexon.net! Part II
Greetings, players!
Have you heard the news? The Nexon website has been totally redesigned to be more user friendly, with a cleaner appearance and more intuitive functionality. Click here for information about the new Nexon portal and Account Settings page. The portal will launch soon, but you can get another look at our new look right here!
A New GNT
The Global Navigation Tool that appears on the top of each page has been updated to provide you with easy access to all of our game sites, as well as links to our new Facebook titles.
Please note that as these pages are still being finalized, this text may vary slightly upon launch.
Additionally, a new intuitive Play button has been installed in the upper right corner that will allow you to launch your favorite games with one click from any Nexon site.
One-Click Download and Play
If you are on a game site:
• Clicking “Play” will launch that game if you already have the client downloaded or will initiate the download process.
• Clicking the arrow next to the “Play” button will display all other Nexon game clients. Clicking on these will launch one of two processes:
– If you already have the client downloaded, clicking the title will launch that particular game.
– If you do not have the client downloaded, clicking the title will initiate the download process for that particular game. Once complete, you will be able to launch the game.
On each game site, the old “Start Game” buttons will now say “Play” and have all been standardized in size and shape. Their functionality has also been updated:
• If you are already logged in and you click “Play,” the game will launch normally.
• If you are not logged in or do not yet have an account, clicking “Play” will initiate the login or registration process.
• If you have an account but have not yet downloaded that game client, clicking “Play” will initiate the download process. Once complete, you will be able to launch the game.Please note that PopTag! players will still need to choose 1 or 2 Player and Vindictus players will need to choose either the West or the East Server before launching the game.

It seems that Nexon hinted there would be many big changes coming to their franchise about a year or two ago, and now they have finally begun. On June 17th they will release the new updates, that you can see below, to make their site more user friendly (hinting at more casual-player friendly games?) and more security measures to protect your account…even a feature to access your account through Facebook! This is just part 1, and it seems that there is going to be a part 2, but what could that part 2 be?

We are pleased to announce the upcoming debut of our brand new Nexon portal! The Nexon website has been totally redesigned to be more user friendly, with a cleaner appearance and more intuitive functionality. The new portal will launch on June 17th, 2011 but you can get the first look at our new look right here!
Please note that as some aspects of the portal are still being finalized, the appearance and text may vary slightly upon launch.
The new portal will feature one game in a large header at the top of the page, and the rest of our titles—including new Facebook games—below. All the game images will display a “PLAY” button when rolled over, and will navigate you to the individual game site when clicked on.
Now appearing at the top of every Nexon page, the Global Navigation Tool has also been overhauled to provide you with one-click access to the pages that matter most.
Log in with either your Nexon account email address or your ID, then choose from links and drop-down menus to the following: Manage Account, Get NX, Get Support, as well as a new “PLAY” button.
Please note that as these pages are still being finalized, this text may vary slightly upon launch.
Clicking on Manage Account will direct you to an all-new Account Settings page where you can view and edit all of your account information. Update your account email address, password, and secondary security, all in one place! From this page you will now also be able to review your recent purchases as well as purchase or redeem NX.
Protect your account with new security features! You will now be able to set up security questions or verify your account through Facebook to give you both flexibility and enhanced protection. These will replace last name and date of birth as the information you will use to verify your identity before making changes to your account information, such as updating your email address or password.

JapanMS
Japan MapleStory has been lagging slightly behind other old services of the game recently and they are still lacking Ice Gorge and the Chaos Bosses. This will change in 27 days though, because Japan MapleStory will the the first version outside of Korea to receive the highly anticipated Big Bang updates. The first update will take place on November 24, 2010. Read more here.
ChinaMS
So GlobalMS and ChinaMS will both be getting Big Bang this December! Shanda, the publishers of MapleStory in China, announced that Big Bang will meet China MapleStory’s 70 million players (of 95 million worldwide) this December. It will take place in three updates, with players being forced to redownload the game after the first update. The update preview can be viewed here.
Recent Updates
It has been an extremely small month for updates to MapleStory around the world. Of the versions that actually had updates this month, one had a big update.
EuropeMS 0.65
The biggest update of the month went to EuropeMS in the update to 0.65 on Wednesday, October 13. This update included Time Temple, Pink Bean, Dual Raid (Ghost Ship in the Mist) and Kerning Square. Interestingly, EuropeMS received the Ghost Ship in the Mist before GlobalMS (GlobalMS got it on Wednesday, October 20). View the patch notes here.
JapanMS 1.89
JapanMS 1.89 took place on Wednesday, October 20. This update added Halloween events including the Uninvited Guest Party Quest. This update was small with no permanent content being added. Wouldn’t this have been the perfect time to add Ice Gorge and the Chaos Bosses, Nexon Japan? Event notice is here.
MapleSEA 0.96
MapleSEA got their 0.96 update on Wednesday, October 6. Like JapanMS’s October update, no permanent content was added. The update included Haunted House II, Cassandra’s Trick or Treat event, Mal Volence Party Quest and Dual Blade Pre-events. Update notes have been posted here.
Upcoming Updates
ThaiMS 0.87
ThailandMS will update to 0.87 on Wednesday, November 3. This update includes the Ice Gorge and the Chaos Bosses (both of which JapanMS don’t have). ThailandMS’s recent updates have been really big. It looks like a Big Bang announcement for ThaiMS is coming up. Read the patch notes (in Thai) here.
MapleSEA 0.97
Finally, Dual Blade is heading to MapleSEA on Wednesday, November 10. Who knows when MapleSEA will get Big Bang. I’d say either March or May/June.
