[GMS](GameOnline)Silver Coin Exploit, Potential Economy Disaster, and Massive world crash!
The 6th Anniversary coins exploit has been blocked.
Chaos scrolls are temporarily unusable and untradable.
6th Anniversary scrolls are temporarily unusable.
All items obtained with 6th Anniversary coins are temporarily untradable and have a value of 0 mesos if sold to an NPC.
Chaos scrolls have been permanently removed from the list of items that can be obtained for 6th Anniversary coins.
All players that abused this exploit will be banned, however we understand that some players may have simply made a poor decision, so all players will be given until 5/15/2011 to voluntarily remove the exploited items from their accounts by selling them to an NPC for 0 mesos. If all exploited items are removed in time, you will not be banned (please note that you must remove the items from ALL of your accounts.) Once our investigation is complete and all applicable bans are issued, we will return the items that remain to normal. We hope that most players will do the right thing and remove the items if they know they are exploited.
**Update** We will NOT be performing a rollback to address this issue. The affect on the meso economy has been very minimal and we are working on addressing the large increase in scrolls and equipment items through other methods. We will release details soon. Thank you for your patience.
Dear Players,
Currently some users are taking advantage of a known exploit in the 6th Anniversary event. We have attempted in the past few days to resolve this issue without affecting other players, but unfortunately we have been forced to take all game services down to avoid any further damage to the in game economy. During this maintenance we will address the exploit and those that abused it. We do not have an estimated end time for this maintenance now, but we will update you as soon as possible.
Thank you for your patience, and we apologize for the inconvenience.

**Update** We were able to complete all maintenance tasks sooner than expected and the maintenance has now ended at 2:55 AM Pacific (5:55 AM Eastern.) All game services are now open, thank you for your patience.
It seems that it was a network issue, and now they are fixing it. At least they notified us.
Dear Players,
We experienced a serious network issue on May 8th, 2011 that has caused downtime in many of our games. We apologize for the delay in an official notice, the network issue disrupted our ability to update you quickly. We are working on resolving the issue now and need to restart all MapleStory game worlds. Once all game worlds are restarted we will check to ensure that everything is working properly again and open the game. We estimate that this process should take about 1.5 hours.
Thank you for your patience, and we apologize for the inconvenience.

(5:10 am)It seems that there may have been another Power Outage at the Nexon HQ, but at the moment, there doesn’t seem to be any complete confirmations. There are no other notices on any other nexon games, however many other Nexon Game forums have said that they have problems with the game crashing, and not being able to log in. A power outage may seem logical, but we have yet to know.
Hello, my lovely readers, it has been brought to our attention that the fears many of us here at MNN, and most of the general population of Maple Story had, have come true. We have had these exploit issues, before, and we knew that with the trading of coins, and maple items that there is bound to be an exploitation of this, and so there is.
First off, I will like to start off with talking about the Silver Coin/Chaos Scroll Exploit. This exploit basically works the same way(which totally blows my mind) as the previous ones we have had. The time you trade in maple items for coins, you send packets that make Cassandra give you much much more than 3-7 Silver Coins, and from this the hackers can obtain essentially an “unlimited” amount of Chaos Scrolls, or anything else from the Inkie shop.
Next, with practically “unlimited” amounts of Chaos Scrolls in the market, it causes the overall price to go down. There are reports of the prices in several servers to go as low as 500k in hours. People will buy them up for a cheap price, scroll their items, and most likely begin selling those items, and someone else will buy them, chaos them, and the cycle continues, but this may not be the case! Maybe just the Chaos Scrolls may be affected, and the rest of the economy will be alright? It’s possible, but who knows.
Last, but not the least of our problems, the massive world crash at approximately 5/8/11 4:00-4:20 am(eastern). I have been awake for a while now, and it just kicked me. The servers prevent you from logging on, and they show all channels empty. When you click your character, it asks you to re-register your pic, and it than says failure! It’s 4:30 am now, and I still am unable to log on. It seems that the servers may be put offline or a random crash.
Now, we are all saying, “oh my gawd trolasskjd a roll back nuu fk yu nexon”, but a Roll Back, especially during attendance events, and several other things, a roll back is Nexon’s “last resort” as many call it. It’s a strategy they will use when all others fail. They can remove all Chaos Scrolls and Silver Coins obtained in a certain time period, or some sort of solution like that, but we can never know. We all know that Nexon has the tendency to not inform us on anything, until they are done, or have gone through for a few hours of downtime with no notice, what so ever.
I will try to keep you all informed, as long as possible, and yeah. Not much else left to say. I got to level 111, on my UA WK. Join me in El Nido if you like. TheHolyHoe is my ign.
Impulsively,
Impulse
by the way, sorry if I have some horrible grammar on the post above, it’s 4:40 am now, and I am tired, and I am really sick.
[KMS]The 1st Level 200 Beginner, In KMS!
A PermaBeginner is someone who levels, leaves Maple Island, but never gets a job. The person sticks with the three Beginner Skills, and the others offered. After level 30 or so it is extremely hard to begin leveling a Beginner, because of the lack of skills, and the damage gap. Most permabeginners are people that have other high leveled characters, and are super funded, so in a way the damage is compensated for the nice equips. There haven’t been many Beginners that have leveled far, but many have gotten to levels of 100-170, and that remains to be the case, but one person in KMS has achieved this “epic” accomplishment, of becoming the first level 200 Beginner!

As you can see, the Beginner leveling there.
According to Spadow, The character was in Demethos, and is the first level 200 Beginner in KMS. The other Beginners fall at levels 178 and lower.
The Maple-News Staff would like to congratulate “킴때진” on getting this clearly “epic” achievement!
