[GMS]{COMPLETE}Unscheduled Server Maintenance, 7/15/11! Update on GMS Updates.
Hello MNNians, It has been a while since there have been any GMS updates, and many updates have gotten to GMS in that time. I apologize for the lack of updates on the GMS Chaos update, but with the lack of time in many of our staff members schedules it gets a bit complicated. I have been busy with several things along with playing on GMS’s latest Server Chaos.
Since the first Chaos patch has reached GMS, the game has gotten much more unstable than Pre-Chaos. There were the large increase in exploits and what not, but I believe the Chaos patch has brought many more problems, to start things off, The first update had several extensions and many unscheduled maintenance’s following the patch. There was a lot of downtime, but we got through it.
At the moment right now, there is an Unscheduled Server Maintenance, here are the details:
Dear Maplers,
We will be performing an unscheduled server maintenance to address connection issues. The maintenance will last approximately 2 hours.
-What-
All game servers will be down.-When-
Pacific: 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM Tuesday July 15, 2011
Eastern: 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM Tuesday July 15, 2011
Thank you for your patience!- The Maple Team -
There were many login problems for players about an hour before this. Players were unable to log in after logging out, and this was causing many to get angry.
Instead of quoting the Chaos Patch information, I will just list several links that I feel that you would want to see.

HackSheild Update and Several Fixes:
http://maplestory.nexon.net/News/News.aspx?boardNo=106&contentNo=00CQE&pageIndex=1
There has been a large increase in Hacking after the first Chaos Patch. The Wild Hunter class has fallen to countless popular hacks before, and now they fall once again. A new hack relating to the Wild Hunters Capture Monster skill. What it does is you switch around a few packets with the skill and you end up summoning a Pink Bean or any other monster you wish, and it does damage to all monsters on the map. The Pink Bean also casts the Pink Bean buff to all players on the map, this has been exploited before. The exp gained goes to the player and the drops are all dropped at the players feet. It gets more interesting, because there is also a way to glitch the map spawn to make the spawn rate jump insanely high. The widely known hacking website http://w8baby.com is where this hack originated from, and much of its hype is still there. They have also found a way to merge this into the BT hack, which basically is a lovely all in one package for many hackers.
For many this may seem like a good thing, the higher spawns, free Pink Bean buffs and several other things, but at the end of the day it is hacking, exploiting, whatever you want to call it, and it goes directly against the Nexon ToS. The hackers are barely getting banned, and the hacking seems to never stop. Many players have been questioning if Nexon is doing anything at all against these hackers, because the countless server maintenance s and updates do not seem to help one bit.
There were many speculations that the GMS Exclusive content at the end of Chaos would be the Visitor Content returning, because hackers were able to gain access to the Party Quest map, and do the Party Quest and gain items. This may or may not be the case, but it would be a great thing for the Newer Servers. This was fixed in a Scheduled Maintenance and along with this certain maintenance a HackShield update was sent out. The update has not prevented many hackers, but it has done some good. The Public Bypass on several hacking sites is currently unavailable because of this update. There are working VIP Bypasses, but they cost money and not everyone is willing to spend money on hacks. The Public Bypass which existed before the update has not been updated since and is still not functional. There may be days or even weeks before a new bypass is released. This has prevented half the hackers from hacking.
Once again, I apologize for the lack of updates, but I will try to keep pumping these articles out, I don’t have much help because this is what I think of some of my staff members at the moment:

ArikuMS Second v.90+ Private Server!
ArikuMS has been a v.83 Maple Story Private Server, and has had banners saying “v95 testing on weekends only!” for quite some time. They have finality opened their doors as a v.95 Maple Story Private Server. On, June 11, 2011, ArikuMS had wipes and began Beta Testing of their v.95 server. ArikuMS is currently rank 43 on http://gtop100.com/maplestory. Usually, many servers like this would be a “troll” or “joke”, but not ArikuMS. ArikuMS seems to be very legit and is the real deal.
ArikuMS may seem like the first v.90+ Private Server, but they are not. ApexMS, which was shutdown back in January by Nexon(http://maple-news.com/2011/01/22/apexms-shutdown/), was the first Public v.90+ GMS Server. ApexMS was closed within a month of being unveiled to the public, and When contacting the owner of the now defunct ApexMS (The first v90+ server), RaptorJesus said “They’re only 6 months behind me and Simon, but more power to them for developing the server and defying Nexon.” ArikuMS is the second GMS server to have Big Bang up and running. There are several MapleSEA Private Servers with Big Bang, but GMS is much more attracting to most of the Private Server Community.
It was been about two days since the unveiling of ArikuMS v.95 Beta Testing, and for now it doesn’t seem like any action is being taken. We will monitor the server and bring you an update as soon as we get one.

[Complete] Unscheduled Server Update
MapleStory will be going through a minor update to resolve the issue with certain monsters not dealing touch damage. The update will last for approx. 4 hours.
-Time-
Pacific: Thursday, September 30th, 10:00 PM – 2:00 AM.
Eastern: Friday, October 1st, 1:00 AM – 5:00 AM.
Players will have to download a few files for this fix which makes it possible that we will updated to v.91 since client files are being changed, although there have been times before when game files were updated and we remained on the same game client version.
Nexon also claims that the Ninja Castle disconnection issue was fixed as of September 29, but people are still complaining about disconnecting from the game while in Ninja Castle.
Guild Hack Compensation: Only 10mil?!
Yes, there has been a guild hack compensation. Surprisingly, it wasn’t announced by the MapleStory staff, but if you go on the character that was the leader of your hacked guild, go to the Delivery System, and there should be a package from “MapleStory” which contains 10,000,000 mesos. This is a very sad compensation for the damage that was done. Most people lost guilds with 100 slots and an emblem… it would take a lot more to replace that guild. But again, at least they have done something. The speculation is that these packages were delivered last server check (5/11/08) … maybe there is more to come? Let’s hope for the best.
