I’m so excited I just had to post. Today I got my first ever Zakum Helmet on my Ice/Lightning Wizard, LightSpiral. Thanks to Methods for the run!

I was snooping around a site called web.archive.org which shows you websites at different points in time. Although it doesn’t show you the first ever Maple-News website (we’re saving that for Maple-News’ 2nd birthday on June 30th), it shows you the first time we actually got our shit together.

If you didn’t know, Maple-News.com turns 2 years old on June 30, 2009. Stay tuned for some anniversary events and other events this summer that will knock your socks off and then eat them afterward.

I’ve been thinking about doing this for a while now and after discussing things with Loliness, I’ve decided to move forward with it. Back in 2007 I created a blog called Riakji’s Summer Project. I thought it would be fun to create a character at the start of the summer and see how things progressed. The goal was to make it to 70 before September (or to at least enjoy/continue playing the character until then). Because MNN was quickly growing I stopped and never really pursued it because of lack of funds.

There are a few rough patches I need to get smoothed out before I can start this project. I’ve been playing MapleStory since beta and despite playing on and off the past year or two I’ve played quite a lot of different characters. I currently play an Ice/Lightning Wizard in Scania, and although I do enjoy it mages never quite kept me interested for long periods of time. I have narrowed things down to three classes that I would consider making: Crossbowman, Fighter, Brawler, and SinDit. Most of you know my personality, so I think it’s important to somewhat match that up. I enjoy playing an attacking class that can take charge at Zakum and other bosses (which is mainly why I’m losing interest in my ice/light mage).

Okay, I’m writing this post so us girls will have a place to put the names of known rapists on Maple. I’m also hoping that GM’s and other Nexon officials will see this foum and block the rapists from the game. I’ll start us off with HouSeF1Re who tried to rape me on the ship from Ellinia to Orbis on channel 2 about 20 minutes ago in the crows nest.

My LOL of the Week. Expect more.

A 9 year old guitar prodigy from Japan, Yuto Miyazawa performed Crazy Train by Ozzy Osbourne on May 11th on the Ellen Degeneres Show. Ozzy Osbourne himself came out to tell the kid how great he was and even mentioned him joining the band one day.

This kid is absolutely wicked!

Asia Soft SEA has put up a Coming Soon page for MapleStory Episode 2. Asia Soft SEA (South East Asia) owns and operates MapleSEA, the Malaysian and Singaporean MapleStory version. MapleStory Episode 2 has been rumored to come out for some time as well as that the new NEXON Korea game, Everplanet, was MapleStory 2.

Why?

Many will ask why Asia Soft if developing a second version of MapleStory. MapleStory earned it’s rightful place on the wall of epic MMORPG’s by being a creating quirky and unique characters on a lush landscape. Most of all, it was a 2D side scrolling game, which made it a huge success. MapleStory 2 will most likely be 3D as we have seen in several screen shots. This would remove the unique of the game and it would be “just another 3D game.” Many would consider making MapleStory 3D a poor business decision.

It is important to know that MapleSEA is owned and run by Asia Soft SEA. Asia Soft is not a branch of NEXON, it is it’s own company. This is most likely why you have not seen a hint of a sequel to MapleStory on any other versions run by NEXON such as: Korean MapleStory, Chinese MapleStory, and Japanese MapleStory. These versions have been out longer than MapleGlobal and MapleSEA so it remains a mystery why Asia Soft is creating a second version of the game when the first version is not completed.

Whatever the incentive is, we’ll have to wait to find out.
