[VMS] Vietnam MapleStory to Close

Unfortunately, Vina Game, the publisher of MapleStory in Vietnam has announced that their contact with Nexon has expired and game service will end on September 14 after 2 years of service. It is not clear whether it was Nexon or Vina Game who chose not to renew the contract.

I can’t see Nexon closing VMS for good. I have a feeling that Nexon will sign a contract with another publisher of VMS, like AsiaSoft Vietnam. Here’s the original Vietnamese announcement:

Here is what it meant in English:

Goodbye Vietnam Maplers

MapleStory was released officially in Vietnam for nearly two years, from March 10, 2008. That time was not long enough for you. The Maple Community has formed a lasting friendship. Together you have experienced the adventure in the magic land of MapleStory. We had the opportunity to incarnate into the brave warriors, mysterious sorcerers, and the archers to go on the main roads for adventure.

Therefore, we the people operating in Vietnam MapleStory, it is hard to say goodbye with this: MapleStory will be officially closed on 14/09/2010. Expect the company issuing the contract expired signed with game company Nexon, the MapleStory manufacturer in Korea.

From the official announcement date until the end date of 09/14/2010, we still maintain all activities in the game, the home page as well as a regular forum for Maplers who can still play games, exchange friends and retain good relationships.

In the coming time, MapleStory will organize some activities to split the gaming community as gratitude sent to your companion and support during the game. After the official closing time on 14 / 9, the remaining players may use your current accounts in other versions.

Also to break any more sadness and regret, please allow us to send you, from the executives sent to Vietnam MapleStory gamers, the most sincere apology.

Thank you,

MapleStory Executive Board

gmTruth from Nexon

006Pj-3c3ded1e-dfa1-4fb7-acb3-f624a1bd5344

Since the last week of February, Nexon have been releasing some things about the bad things about Maplestory. Honestly, I couldn’t laugh harder! *Gasp* Alright, here is the (giggles) lowdown about what they said.

“Inflation: When people can buy mesos easily, the amount of in-game money increases exponentially. This means that individual mesos are worth less and prices rise. Players who earn their mesos honestly get outbid for items by players who purchase large sums of mesos with real money outside of the game. Since sellers only take the highest offer, honest players simply can’t keep up. “

“Devaluation of Items: As more meso buyers purchase extremely high-priced rare items, low-to-mid level items become worthless. Even high-end items drop in value because they lose their “specialness” as the number of them in the game increases. “

Destruction of Market Liquidity: You may have found a special item that you’re able to sell for three million mesos today, but because meso buyers continue to increase the supply of gold, the same item could go for 10 million tomorrow. Prices moving up and down in wildly unpredictable ways results in people holding back on certain goods because they expect meso buyers to increase their offers. That causes shortages of certain goods in the marketplace.

Inflation, Devaluation, and Liquidity… huh? Well…then why would they add two features to the UI (User Interface) Thus making Nexon a hypocrite.

  • Added the Meso Bags, which included 500~2000k NX that allowed users to receive 1~10 million mesos per bag. Meso bags were supposed to be a “Meso-generator” killer…did it kill or help Inflation?
  • Added the MTS (Maple Trading System), it has many-many players going “GAGA” over Maplestory. Gaining items that are consider precious, (Stormcaster Gloves, Gloves for Attack Scrolls, Agent Equipment, etc). Gaining NX for items, and if you were a merchant player than you would use the meso bags or do something else to acquire the money.
  • Meso bags were the best ways to gain legit mesos. The “Meso-generator sites” bought most of the meso bags and sold meso quantities in a 10% deduction cost. (Example: I buy 5 bronze meso bags from cash shop = 2500k NX = 5 million mesos. If I buy 10million meso it would cost 3~6$ or about 3500~6400NX).

Is this not earning mesos and NX honestly and legitly? (Let’s analyzed this carefully…)

  1. Meso bags were included to boost the maple economy.
  2. Meso bags were bought more than 100,00 times a day until it ended.
  3. Meso bags from NEXON, were sold in the cash shop.
  4. MTS, allowed people who acquired many “well” done equipments and items to be sold for Nexon Cash, for use in the Cash Shop.

What does this all add up to…

  • Inflation with prices exceeding 3 million mesos per average scroll or any “well” done item.
  • MTS filled with extremely HIGH Nexon Cash prices.
  • Taxes, (Just imagine…Uncle Nexon calling for a tax return).
  • Merchants that act like the bank, (that’s why Nexon called for a Stimulus Package).
  • The Regan Administration “The Cup” ideal.
  • Blaming the citizens of Maplestory for corruption.

So… this is a very controversial topic. I know, I’ll be replying. And, there is ALOT more to come. I give you the facts, give me your opinion.
