Happy Mapleversary!
It has been seven years since the journey of gMS started and what a seven years it has been, this is how Nexon started off their message to maplers on this special day:
Today is the seventh anniversary of the Global MapleStory service, and we’re making this day extra special with not just a 2x EXP and Drop event, but also with GM appearances throughout the Maple World!
Also be sure to keep an eye out for a certain decadent fiend who’s set his sights on ruining the celebration in Henesys, Orbis, Leafre, Perion, Kerning City, and Edelstein…
We’re continuing our Lucky 7th with these 2x EXP and Drop events for the next three weekends, so the party doesn’t end today!
In addition to that, there are countless other events taking place including:
1. Legends Character Creation Event // May 10 – May 23
- If you missed out on creating a Legends character, now is your chance! From May 10 to May 23, all players will be able to create a Cannoneer, Demon Slayer, or Mercedes of their own.
- You will see a banner below your characters once you log in to your world. Press the green CLICK button to begin making your Legends character. Remember, you can only create one Legends character per account, so make sure you have selected the world you want your character to be on!
- You do not need an open character slot to create a Legends character, unless you already have 15 characters in a world. If you do, please delete one or choose another world.
2. Cake Boss Invasion // May 10-May 31
- A giant anniversary cake has come to life and refuses to be eaten! Defeat it and its delicious minions and they will drop mesos and a variety of restorative and buff items.
- Cake Boss spawns in Henesys and Leafre every 12 hours following a server maintenance and after it has been defeated.
3. Lucky 7th Anniversary Quests // May 10 – May 31
- 7th Anniversary Maple Leaf and the 7th Anniversary Box will have a chance to drop from monsters. The Maple Administrator will also give out Maple Leaves upon level-up.
- Pendant of the Spirit: Available to all characters Lv. 13 and above from the Maple Administrator NPC each day. When equipped, this item awards bonus EXP the longer you stay logged in. 1 hour = 10%, 2 hours = 20%, 3 hours = 30%!
- 7th Anniversary Diary: Available to all characters Lv. 13 and above from NPC Cassandra. This will let you track Lucky 7th Mapleversary medal and Rising Star quest progress. See Cassandra again if you lose yours.
- Turn in Maple Leaves to Cassandra for 7th Anniversary Coins. She’ll only accept batches of one hundred Leaves at a time, each of which are worth one Coin. You can turn in sets of 500 Maple Leaves from past years for sets of 7 of the 7th Anniversary Maple Leaves.
- Obtain 7th Anniversary Coins and turn them in to NPC Inkwell to receive Beryl Maple gear (except weapons), Joyous 7th Dark 20% Scrolls, or Joy Bird Feathers.
There’s also new items for the anniversary, a rising star contest, potted mini maple tree, and a special Lucky 7th Mapleversary Medal.
Nexon has also fixed quite a bit problems including:
8. Fixes
- (Quest: Piercing Defenses) Official Knight A now drops the Cygnus Knight Emblem.
- Zeno spawns in Kulan Field V.
- Deo spawns in Dry Desert.
- Timer spawns in Lost Time ;
- D.Roy spawns in Lab – Area C-3
- A fix has been applied to the Ghost Stump spawns in Gusty Peak.
- A fix has been applied to the Yeti and Pepe spawns in Sharp Cliff 3.
- (Quest: Exchanging Greetings with Mar the Fairy) The quest requirement has been changed to one Apple instead of the unavailable Dry Treat item.
- (Quest: Meet Hiver 2) Cart Bears now drop Bear Meat.
- Typos for Cannoneer skills in the tooltips for certain growth equipment has been fixed.
- The “Cat Hoot” Cash hat is now correctly named “Cat Hood.”
- The Tiny Black Swimshorts are now correctly labeled.
Free items? What?
In addition to all the other events, Nexon is also hosting a free Cash Shop item event which you can participant in..
Every Friday from May 11 to June 22, you’ll have a chance to score a coupon code for a free Cash Shop item. The items will vary weekly–from Gachapon tickets to Miracle Cubes–so be sure to participate every Friday!
- Visit our Facebook page each Friday, and click on the “Lucky 7 Friday” contest link.
- Contest will start during at random times each Friday so keep your eye out for the start time on Facebook.
- Complete the entry form, and get your code.
- Log in to the game, and visit the Cash Shop.
- Redeem your coupon using the “CODE” button at the bottom of the window.
- Find out what you’ve won!

Sparks Talks About KryptoDEV Lawsuit
Aleks Manov, more commonly known by his alias Sparks, recently made several posts on the popular MMORPG server development forum, RaGEZONE, discussing his current lawsuit against Nexon America. Sparks is infamous in the MapleStory community for running and creating the MapleStory private server development forum, KryptoDEV, which was first sued by Nexon over two years ago on February 2010.

I’ve got a few PM’s asking how my court went. Well, I hope this can be considered more of a discussion rather then spam but with that said, let me say this.
I was mistaken and the court date was actually April 18th (not the 1st as I think I mentioned in 1 thread on here). Which yes, hasn’t arrived yet. April 18th is a Wednesday for me and I’m flying out this Tuesday April 17th at 7:35 EST my flight leaves from Toronto, ON to Vancouver, BC (5 hour flight … Boring) for the Trial Hearing. I will be leaving BC on April 20th at 11:35PM (PST) and arriving on Saturday at 7AM EST

Nexon Awarded $3.6 Million in Private Server Lawsuit
Nexon America was recently awarded $3.6 million in damages from the creators of UMaple, a MapleStory private server. The judgment was issued in the U.S. District Court of California on the 3rd of April 2012. UMaple, a private server with an alleged 17,938 users, and its creator Gurvinder Kumar were fined $200 per act of circumvention (the statutory damages minimum) set out by the DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) 17 USC 1203.
Kumar did not appear in court to defend himself leading to a default decision by the court. However, the judge seemed extremely skeptical that UMaple significantly affected Nexon’s business through the operation Read the rest of this entry

Multi-World Omok Tournament
First off, I’d like to introduce myself by saying that my name is Dill and this is my first post as a blogger here at Maple-News!
If you have been on recently, you will have noticed a very popular thread which explains how to apply for a Multi-World Omok Tournament!
Read this directly from their thread:
In this tournament, you’ll be facing your fellow maplers in the mini-game of Omok. We do plan to all of the worlds. However, only three from each world will come out for our multi-world tournament in just months!
Those three champions will then be carried ahead to a multi-world bracket, where they will play each other. In order to do this, however, new characters will have to be made.
With over thirty followers on Twitter and growing, it is expected to be a huge success — even getting a follow and two retweets from the official MapleStory Twitter account days ago!
I found it quite interesting to see all the positive feedback (minus a few trollers) for something as simple as this! I should probably add that as the organizer of this, I surely weren’t expecting the feedback that we received!
I shall keep you updated on the status of this project, you can find information about how to register here but don’t forget that registration closes on Friday, April 27th, 2012 which gives you just three days!

Exclusive Class in twMS as well?!
So we know that gMS confirmed that they are releasing an exclusive class along with the Phantom thief hero, but strangely enough was the same for the Taiwan MS version.
