2x EXP or 2x Drop? You decide!

Dual Blade Disguise

No one knows who’s a Dual Blade for one simple reason – those scary masks they wear! But how do they get those masks and can you get one for yourself?

Yes you can! Level up your new Dual Blade between July 21 and August 17, 2010 up to level 100 to receive one of these cool masks.

You’ll get your first mask at level 20 and at every 10 levels you earn from there. If you get a level 30 Dual Blade you can get the level 40 mask first and then all the others after.

Keep Your Enemies Close Event

The only thing scarier than a Dual Blade you can see is the one you can’t. Keep an eye on a Dual Blade by inviting them to your party and going on selected party quests. If you have a Dual Blade in your midst, you’ll earn extra EXP as a reward!

Dual Blade Weddings

Sure, they’re scary and deadly – but they’re people too!

Between July 21 and August 17, 2010, we’ll celebrate the nuptials of any two Dual Blades by giving you a Black Kitty, Skunk, or a Black Bunny pet as a wedding present.

Once you’ve had your wedding ceremony head over to the Cash Shop to take your pet home!

Cool Summer Gear

Sure. Everyone’s all excited about the arrival of the Dual Blades, but let’s not forget the arrival of something almost as exciting – summer!

Check out the cool summer gear you can find just by monster hunting between July 21 and August 17.

Epic Changes for MapleStory Weapons

No MapleStory hero would be complete without an epic weapon with which to fight off the forces of evil! Now there are changes coming to the MapleStory weapon system that will make your weapon more epic than ever!

Here’s how it works.

Item Rank

Items are now being separated into “ranks” that will help you distinguish between common, less valuable and rarer, more valuable items.

  1. Items will now have a border identifying its rarity:
    1. White border: Normal items
    2. Blue border: Rare items
    3. Purple border: Epic items
    4. Yellow border: Unique items
  2. When an item drops from a monster they have a random chance to be Normal, Rare, Epic or Unique. Items ranked rare or above have “hidden potentials.”
  3. A “hidden potential” item is shown with a red border.

    1. “Hidden potential” items can be identified by using a magnifying glass available from merchants in major towns.
    2. The following magnifying glasses are available:

i.    Basic Magnifying Glass – Can identify items up to level 30

ii.    Average Magnifying Glass – Can identify items up to level 70

iii.    Advanced Magnifying Glass – Can identify items up to levels 120

iv.    Premium Magnifying Glass – Can identify all items

Item Potential

Under this new system, some weapons now have hidden potential attributes that are randomly assigned. Normal items have their usual attributes but Rare or better items will randomly be given one to three hidden potential attributes. The higher the rank of the item the better the potential attribute will be.

Unlocking these attributes requires the use of a “Potential Scroll.”

A Normal item’s potential attribute are not visible until a Potential Scroll is used on the item. Use a Potential Scroll on the item to make it “Unidentified” then use a Magnifying Glass to reveal the potential.

All Rare rank and higher items have their potential hidden attributes visible on inspections.

Potential Scrolls can drop from monsters in the world or they can be found by using the Miracle Cube Cash Shop item. Each Miracle Cube used will yield one scroll fragment. Combine five to create a Potential Scroll and 10 to create an Advanced Potential Scroll.

Using the Miracle Cube on an identified will reduce it to an unidentified state. Reusing a Magnifying Glass will reveal a new set of Potential traits.

The “Item Revamp” Equipment Enhancement

Item Revamps are applied to equipment when the upgrade slots are used up.
1.  Apply an Equipment Enhancement Scroll or Advanced Equipment Enhancement Scroll. Each successful use will increase the item’s stats!

2. The success rate of the scroll will decrease as the number of enhancements increases.
3. Should the enhancement fail, the item will be destroyed.

The number of yellow stars above an item’s name shows the number of successful enhancements the item has received. One star means the item now belongs to the Excellent Class and the item name will be in red in the description. Three stars mean Special Class and the item name will show in green.
