Yesterday a user under the name ‘Ruby’ posted a thread on the Maple-News forums with an image received from Tryst on her IRC channel showing an e-mail with the usernames and e-mails of the DestinyMS staff in their entirety.

It is confirmed that Lloyd Korn did receive the e-mail. We do not know if Tryst was the one who sent this e-mail, but why would she post this image on her IRC channel if she was innocent? If she really wasn’t working with Lloyd Korn and Nexon, then why would she reaffirm those accusations? Rumor has it that Nexon plans to contact and include everyone stated in the e-mail in their lawsuit against DestinyMS and Tryst will be a key witness in the trial.
Tryst has confirmed that she did send Lloyd Korn the e-mail.

My E-Mail address was added to that list AFTER Tryst was fired…. And English and Pwnnned were also hired AFTER Tryst was fired. How she got this information is beyond me.

Either Tryst sent it and has someone on the inside or someone is fucking with us.
Tryst has known my email address for some time as I’ve known her for 2 years and she is staff on my own Maplestory Europe fansite and forums. She would also know that I have another email address which I use and also my real name. I find this suspicious that someone has posted a VERY recent staff list. I personally think someone is messing with you on this one and that it hasn’t been sent to Lloyd. Fact is, it’s someone who’s on that last who has access to these details and either assisted Tryst or set this up for some attention. Quite honestly, Lloyd hasn’t got much to go on there, even IF he got it, which I doubt.

She seems to be acting under the policy of ‘You get rid of me, I switch sides a make sure you get sued up the bum for this’. This private server issue is beginning to look like a bad courtroom drama show, mostly because its being taken so seriously.

No offence Tryst, but you kinda did. I know I won’t get into much trouble for simply playing, modding and hopping IRC, but it’s still the principle. How about you just sent the names of people who you had beef with and left us others out of it? I’m also curious as to who you managed to access that staff list when it was the last edit that has been made to it which was after you were fired, were banned from the forums and had no access to the staff section. But then, this is you we’re talking about ^_^

Xterminator posted up some terribly edited IRC log of a chat me and SexMuffin were having in my IRC channel about using Brutus to try and crack the password to my account on my website asplitroad.com – somebody edited it to make it seem as though Sailin had asked if we were DDoSing.
As a staff member of DestinyMS your name is on this list. I have nothing against you, you’re an awesome person, as are most of the people on the list. However as I said, in Shadow causing me trouble, I’ll cause him trouble.
I think everyone owes myself and the whole of Maple-News an apology. We told you but you just didn’t listen. Just like CareStory, you called us liars and later got shut down. It looks like the same will happen to DestinyMS.

We had proof, but the source requested to remain ANONYMOUS! Unlike DestinyMS, we do not PUBLISH e-mails without the CONSENT of the person! I know plenty of private servers that could get sued for publishing Cease and Desist letters and other letters from Lloyd Korn.

FYI, it’s not MY server. I think you might have worked that out from my previous comments. People are always sceptical of “proof” from anonymous sources, not to mention that the only REAL proof would be from Tryst herself, which she has just given.

People do respect DestinyMS. You just don’t know those people. We were one of the few servers not to shut down like a coward when Nexon first started to threaten us. We contacted Nexon ourselves to seek verification that the C&D was genuine, we discussed ways of staying open and our options. You know less than you think about the staff of the server. Tell me, if the staff were SO poor and the server SO bad, how did we all stick together through the threats by Nexon? How are we still open now? Because we have a community.

Naw, this is merely something for me to do while I’m bored this evening. I enjoy pointing out flaws in people’s arguments, and yours is more flawed than Cinderella’s glass shoe after a bulldozer ran over it.
Thing is, what you perceive as fun is very different to what we see as fun. I know that the most enjoyable Maple experiences I’ve had have been on pservers; mostly Destiny and Odin. Do you even know why some people left offical Maplestory versions? Aside from the “iun wan2pai4nx” and “OMG ITZ SO HARD!1!!”? Because some of us were sick of Nexon sucking the fun out of what is essentially a fun game. Because we were sick of the poor customer service. Because we were tired of poor content updates. Because we were sick of elitist pricks who treat Maplestory like it’s a job and look down on people who have to work or whose parents don’t allow them to skive off school.
You say I know little about your site and it’s staff? You know VERY little about pserver players and staff.

Most people play DestinyMS for easier levelling. Nothing to do with Nexon. With Shadow’s lame KoC scheme and voting for NX, Nexon seems like a better game host.

I’m citing the reasons given to me by people I know for their playing pservers. Even though I may not agree with all of Shadow’s decisions and opinions, I still prefer Destiny over eMS anyday. Again, all about preference.
My issue is with pserver players being stereotyped in a particular fashion by people who have little to no knowledge of various communities. Yes, many pservers did bad things by selling items for actual money and a lot had incredibly poor communities. Most of those are dead now. Just as not every magazine is full of porn, not every pserver is full of weeaboo newfags.
It’s not “free NX”. If it was “free” you’d be given NX without doing anything.
In voting for NX, the server gets more attention.
In using KoC for Nx, Shadow gets a bigger e-peni… e-army.
In paying for NX on the official versions, the official versions are able to stay open and offer a decent service to their players. As much as it’s generally perceived that Nexon do barely anything, I’d like to see you try to answer hundreds of emails, translate and code new content and put in a lot of work to keep the game running smothely each day.
And Bellatrixa, DestinyMS does do those “bad things” you mention. They class paying for NX as donating. You don’t donate to receive something. A donation is charity.

Shadow has acted in such ways that are disgraceful. I really could care less what happens to your server. As I’ve said before, people are interested in private servers so this happens to be news worthy.
If DestinyMS really did not want to be like the servers you talked about, then they should have closed peacefully and respectfully when Nexon requested so. I know all about Shadow’s events like finding Lloyd Korn’s picture or contacting his family and what not. I do not think those are morally right and if Shadow does it, it’s like DestinyMS did it because he owns the server. It’s reflected badly on DestinyMS and for that, I have no respect.

To be honest, when I donated to the server, I didn’t do it for the NX. I don’t actually care if I receive it or not. I know not everyone has the same attitude, but that’s the way I feel about it.
I don’t believe Destiny has a poor community, but there are some issues, that much is true. Tryst, I know you got a VERY rough deal from both Duncan and Mic. For some of us, the ride has been much smoother.
As for Nexon, for the amount of money they earn (and let’s not forget they’re part of the Viacom group too), they can easily afford to take on more staff to make the game run smoother. The reason they don’t is because they are too profit hungry to really look after their consumers and rely on the fact that it’s mostly 8 year old kids playing who scream “I WANT!” to their parents. While that may fly in corporate America to some extent, it gets old. The only reason Nexon will never fail is because of their huge financial backing. It’s certainly not their customer care that’s keeping them going.
If people wanted to play Maplestory for easier leveling, they would go to the higher rate servers, not the (second) lowest one.
And I’m not going to play on the official Ms for the exact reasons that Bella stated. With p.servers I can play and not be in fear of getting auto banned when I’m higher up (like I was) for no effing reason at all.
Their bot script is busted and they know it, it has been forever and yet, they don’t fix it.

One problem though with your argument is that DestinyMS is a private server which will wipe every few months, crash constantly and eventually close. You’d lose your character anyway.

Bayleef was banned for hacking, then a week later was hired as a GM for being Xterminator’s cousin.
DestinyMS’ community isn’t that great.
I love you too Tryst and yeah it all wipes but… every game closes at some point in time. I realized that after I spent thousands on Flyff.. it isn’t shut just yet but the way they’re updating it wont be far off.
Anyway..
It’s a lot harder to stomach a character being banned when you’ve paid cash for the NX and only for the NX. You expect it to be all good and whatnot because it IS the official server.
I don’t expect stability from any private server because it’s exactly that and not the multimillion dollar company that owns the rights.

Let us make a scenario. Say your stuck in-game. You have no NX, nor will anyone Smega for you. How do you get out? You have NO knowledge of the GMs, since they make themselves known about…once a year. You can’t log a ticket, since it takes a week or so to get that resolved. What do you do? In a PS, we whisper a GM, since they actually interact with the community.

Woooooow…people really start getting defensive when you start talking smack about them and what they believe is right and stuff. You should take all the negativity from the people as a compliment, Savage. If you didn’t make sense or post interest articles steeped in mystery that turned out to be true, they wouldn’t bother be angry.
I will admit that I have danced with the whole private server issue for a while, since I can’t really pick which side is right. I want to side with the pservers, but then I remember that this is America, so the side with the most money is usually always going to win, so I side with NEXON so they don’t use that money to crush me. And I’m not one of those sheep that doesn’t play pservers because Nexon says not to. I do it because I don’t feel that same sense of a ‘accomplishment’ as I do in GMS.
Don’t get me wrong, either way being a high leveled character is great an all, but I feel that it ‘means more’ if it happens in GMS, since things aren’t as simple as in the pserver universe. Feel free to correct me on any of this, since it wasn’t long after my first and only pserver encounter that I quit playing both of them.
After reading all of the comments in this post (which I must say were much more entertaining than the article itself, not that it wasn’t informative), I think that ganging up on the messenger who posted on a long shot and ended up being right isn’t going to help your situation (which doesn’t appear to be very good anyway now that the whistle has been blown). But I can’t stop any of you for wanting to leave an impression on people.

People who build up a good server, get tons of people to donate then the next day the server is closed and the guy is off with the donation money. Im sure this has happened with all the other games with private servers too.

As you can see, you should have used the word “know”, meaning to be familiar with. You used “no”, as in, a sign of disagreement or negativity.
Furthermore, the Netherlands (Where DMS is) is located in does not have Anti-Circumvention enforcement. However, Germany, where Odin MS was located, DOES in fact enforce Anti-Circumvention.
And you can ban all the users you want, and use empty threats about consequences. But don’t insult the people you report to. You should have learned that from all your time reporting.
Ah. I forgot to add something.
As you would need to get onto the DMS website to get your evidence, and to get onto the website, you must agree with the ToS, you would know that you agree that all lawsuits must follow the Dutch Governments set of laws.
Not the United States.

I can assure you that he didn’t contact all the people who’s emails are listed and ask them for permission to post them. As my email is on that list, I know I wasn’t contacted, nor was any other member of staff as far as I know.

Ehhh… first off, in response to Fakit’s most recent post, all I can say is you begged the question while being obsessed of the Matrix.
Anyways, ah well, interesting to what happened. Did anyone forget the DesuMS/KyraMS case? Despite numerous threats from Nexon, the only thing happening was Nexon went after their server host instead because it was impossible to sue the owner. That doesn’t mean the server host is under or could had been in legal action though, it could had simply meant an action out of policy. That is proof that Nexon has no ability to sue anyone else right now (although I have to admit the only company who got this far with private servers is Nexon).
If everyone did the same thing as DesuMS, I doubt there would be any legal action at all. Before anyone mentions OdinMS, don’t forget that Germany has its own version of the DMCA made under the EUCD.
As for Tryst, well done. Nexon is after only the client, as only the client could get a server owner into trouble. And all private servers share the same type of client that OdinMS got prosecuted for. Therefore, your advice would beg the question.

THAT is what I was responding to. You are showing the email addresses of many people there without their permission which is actually against the Data Protection Act. While you have the permission from Tryst to display the contents of the email, this does not include permission to display the personal information of the people spoken of in the email. For that you need the permission of the people themselves before you publish their personal details.

Okay…Savage did something that violated the Data Protection Act (something that I didn’t know existed until now), and you were part of a group that was pirating a video game that infringes on the copyrights of a major company despite that fact that most of these groups are being systematically taken down and the group was asked to stop.

According to my research it gives people the right to know what information a company has on them in a record file of some kind. I like Maplestory. I personally do not get why Nexon must go through the whole ordeal to seek and destroy private servers. Nexon is earning LOTS of money anyways – I mean, ever since Cash Shop opened, people have been spending $200 a month on that game. That’s when it stopped getting fun; for us old veterans, if you didn’t have the money, you were up against a whole group with HUGE advantages.
Private servers are fun. They crash, they lag, they make you scream. But at least DestinyMS is much more fair (In my opinion) than gMS. By shutting down DestinyMS, 600+ people are losing a game they like. By targeting pServers, does Nexon expect those players to come back to them? @_@
And now this. Just because of a little grudge… we are losing a game and server that we love dearly. We lose fun because of drama and betrayal.
