MapleGlobal’s Turn For A Huge Update
Asia Soft wow’d players in Singapore and Malaysia with the release of MapleStory Episode 2 for MapleSEA. Asia Soft has long been respected as a company that cares about their users and brings decent content. NEXON has received an increasing amount of criticism ever since NX Games and Wizet became NEXON America. Many users have expressed a feeling of dissatisfaction and annoyance with the company and their maintenance of MapleGlobal.
The release of Pirates to MapleGlobal brought many users (especially veterans) back to the game and interested many new users. It gave many dissatisifed maplers a feeling of excitement and somewhat raised NEXON America’s likability and street cred among the public. With exciting new events, temporary EXP increases, and new content the community is beginning to “warm up” to the multi-million dollar company. However, when NEXON declared War on Private Servers, things began to change.
The ongoing war between NEXON (Korea and America) has created a dividing line. You’re either on the private server side, or NEXON’s side. This has created a large amount of animosity towards NEXON and their employees (especially their General Counsel, Mr. Korn). Threats, insults, and strange e-mails flood forums, websites, and e-mail inboxes. The fire continues to burn brighter as more servers are shut down and more people become unhappy. No one can see a definite end in sight, but it will definitely go out with a bang.
Many peg Asia Soft’s MapleStory Episode 2 as a ploy to gain more users. Much of the content could have been achieved in one large patch. Many users (especially in MapleGlobal) believe that NEXON may be able to pull off a large update, without having to add the title Episode 2 to the mix. Many summer events such as the E X PLOSION! has brought users back to the game and the increasing amount of events, especially GM events, have drawn some private server users.
It remains to be seen what NEXON America has in store for MapleGlobal this summer. There are three months of water balloons, bathing suits, and fun in the sun. I’m sure they can figure something out.

Their small temporary exp events aren’t bringing back pserver players. I’m thinking about trying Maplestory 2 though. [Just as long as Nexon doesn't corrupt it with its greediness

Like tristan said the temporary exp events are not doing much to bring back players. I just think they should do something like Asiasoft has done. Like chaning the Exp, Drop, tables. Asia Soft changed their exp tables for ever, and by making this huge update they have brought back many players.

This is just Nexon trying to show the public their good side and make it seem like private servers such shit. It won’t last long, trust me

lol. seriously man. my friend quitted maple for almost 3 years and started playing when this Episode 2 was out. what a huge switch asiasoft has created!
i’m not sure about nexon but i am certain that it would be an even more difficult job for them to achieve to what asiasoft have done.

Well in my point of view, Nexon should be like AsiaSoft, kind of.
*I mean, the bad side about that is (from what I heard from), patches in MapleSEA has lots of content but costs hours of time while Global releases their content bit by bit in individual patches.
While some parts of Nexon still helps others (Customer Service and I guess forums), they are still being distracted by the private server war. They should take some time off from that to focus more on the main game other than replicas trying to be better.
Meanwhile, AsiaSoft is impressing their players by dedicating to their community… lol?

@RazorNion
“…Nexon seems to be a tantrum-throwing, money-hungry monster. I don’t think that they really care much about the people that play GMS anymore, it’s all about hunting down the people who are hosting or playing private servers. They just want that few extra players that would pump another tiny bit of money into their already overburdened pockets.
Maybe if Nexon payed more attention to their players, the ones who were offended when events started including the CASH SHOP (tickets to get into the mini dungeon during events), the ones who can’t afford a cash card due to financial issues or don’t live in a place where they’re available, the ones who got tired of not knowing if that hacker they just reported would ever get what they deserved…then MAYBE they would get some people back.
If anybody from Nexon even listened to their players’ ideas and added them besides “we want that from that country’s version” (Pirates, for example) and “more cash shop items,” I think they’d make a good bunch of people a lot happier …”

I actually kind of pity Nexon when it comes to updates. As long as they’re stuck with the “fun only if you’re high leveled but it takes a long time to get there” curse, they’ll struggle :/

Honestly, I think that without nexon cash the game is not as fun. What they need to do is change their exp charts forever not just for little amounts of time. I agree with Tristan 100% and i also think they should be able to get us things from other country servers. For example, other servers had pirates long before GMS even heard about it. As for the war on Pservers…Nexon is just beng greedy. Maybe if they actually took time to think about why people switch to pservers they would not have this problem. I actually switched to a pserver once and it was a lot of fun. Mainly because NX was free and the exp was great. On GMS it is only really fun once you are high lvled and it is honeslty very hard to get there. If they would only change the exp charts for good then im positive many players would come back.

So far, Nexon has done a considerable job so far. The only disappointment for mewas the anniversary where the maple capes cannot be replaced.
To be frank, I was expecting more in the anniversary patch.
Aside from that, Asiasoft seems to be pulling off Time Temple, Ellin forest, Mu Lung Dojo and Knights of Cygnus just to convert GMS players to MSEA (in my opinion).
