RaGEZONE Removes MapleStory Private Server Development Section
MentaL, the owner of the popular private server development forum RaGEZONE, announced today that they have removed the MapleStory Private Server development/discussion forums because of complaints from NEXON America and their datacenter.

As if this moment Im getting increasing heat from Nexon and our datacenter to remove the server, we had up until 6pm this evening to comply or face complete shut down, until I relocate the section, maple story section is closed.Any complaints please contact: lkorn@nexon.net (maple story representative)

MentaL hinted that this is not necessarily the end their MapleStory section. RaGEZONE has development forums for other games like World of Warcraft, Cabal Online, Gunbound, and Runespace. They also host a variety of their own private servers.
This is another major blow to MapleStory private servers. RaGEZONE was one of the top sources for private server tutorials, downloads, and advertisements. Those who do not have advanced knowledge of coding languages like C++ and JAVA will not be able to set up servers as easily as they once could. This will undoubtedly lead to a decline in MapleStory private servers.

The main Source of Private Servers is basically gone.
Eh… it’s only a short matter of time before RaGEZone puts back up the section anyways. Accordingly to the DMCA it’s also illegal to share ideas through the media about circumvention of DRM.

personally i used to play Global MS but ever since they had the cash shop and NX stuff, it seemed all lame cuz they’re trying to take ur money away for a game. Oh come on -.-”. I play DesuMS now since it’s FUN, everythings FREE, incuding FREE rare NX and alotta chatting and nice polite people on.

Haha, idiots. You idiots don’t know anything about nexon. Yeah, nexon did not make this game, but they own a COPY of it. The thing is, is that nexon bought the game from Korea. They bought a copy of the game and client for probably a lot of money and just edited the game code. Now that it is their property, you can’t make english private servers without their permission. You wouldn’t want anybody stealing what you bought, do you? The coding may be different, but you are using THEIR client.
I’m just saying, if you want to make a private server, you’ll have to buy a source and the client from nexon along with permission.
Maplestory private servers are NOT dieing. The problem with GMS is the only way you can get any good at it is to have absolutely no life. Also, I see more hacks in GMS than in most private servers. SAD. The other sad thing is that Nexon has to sue servers to stay alive. It should just make GMS better so that private servers aren’t a threat anymore.

You guys are hilarious. Stop calling Nexon “fail”. They’re a company, they’re in business to make money. They provide a service to you, if you don’t like it, leave. Maplestory and all files associated with it is their intellectual property, and they have every right to continue doing what they’re doing.

You have to face that everyone likes Private Servers better than regular Maplestory. They are so much more fun. Events go on all the time were in GMS maybe twice a year.

dude, shut the hell up. You have no idea what you are talking about. I loved the part about them charging NX. Considering NX stands for nexon cash, I could understand why they would charge. As for the experience rate, it is at the perfect rate. You gain money just as slowly as you level, and it puts a challenge to the game. Even if you know 10 thousand people and they all quit, it would minorly hurt Nexon’s popularity. They aren’t wasting their time shutting down servers, and they aren’t leaving GMS aside. GMS is owned by Nexon America, and developed by wizet. The team of people hunting and shutting down private servers, if there is even a team, is completely different than the team developing the game, so why would GMS decline due to this? I’ve noticed more patches as of late than ever before.
Listen you guys just have to give up and look at the big picture.
Yes, private servers are fun for like 2 days and it gets old fast. I agree they shouldnt charge for NX that lasts 30 days it should last forever. The reason they are doing this is because they are losing money. You dont want some Hobo to charge in your room and rape it for all its worth now do you? Plus getting your levels in the fun part about the game you can enjoy it instead of getting to lvl 200 in 2 hrs and then rebirthing. PLUS IF YOU REALLY NEED TO LEVEL THEN WHY DONT YOU GO TO 7-11 AND BUY A FRICKEN NEXON CARD AND GET A 2X EXP SCROLL DE DE DEE! And the private leveling spots oh big fucking whoop someone is in your spot well there is nobody in your backyard is there SO GO GET SOME FRESH AIR THEN DUST FROM YOUR COMPUTER FAN you stupid baphoon! Private servers hold there fun for about 2-3 days getting to lvl 200 in real MS lasts a lifetime memory.

This guy has a perfect example. Look at the 10 thousand people part. Then look at Maplestorys advertisement on youtube or whatever you like. They claim to have 7million players and its quite hard not to see someone without NX in the game is there? So all you little whining bitches get lifes.

I enjoy private servers over Nexon servers ONLY BECAUSE of Free NX. Also events, and easier stuff, and crap. I guess I’m lazy but w/e. Nexon if you really want a GOOD game then boost some things up even a little bit and it will count to your community. But if you leave it the way it is..1 person will leave..Then 100..After that 1000,10000,1000000 and then all will leave. Your going to have to make us FEEL appreciated for downloading your game and registering to your site and paying for your NX that you need the money so desperately….Host some events. Give out some crap. Make it better.
