I heard from a little birdy that DeSuMS & KyraMS’ host has been contacted by NEXON America and the servers will be down within 24 hours. They received a DMCA letter in previous weeks, but did not comply (or so it seemed). They merely changed their directory location. Don’t believe us?

Popular hacking haven, CEF (Cheat Engine Forums) received a DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) notice 2 days ago from NEXON America’s Lloyd Korn. Cheat Engine however, was not shut down by the owner. To avoid any legal actions, CEF’s host shut down the site and terminated their hosting. Cheat Engine made an official notice on April 25th explaining their current issues.

April 25th 2009: Hosting trouble

As you might have noticed the forum is currently hosted on a free forum, and the main website is missing a few things like the tables section.
This is because the previous host has kicked me out because of a DMCA notice without notifying me at all. (Seems that even just talking about game modification is illegal these days. All hail the emperor) So now I’m looking for a new location to host the site, and in the meantime I’ll have to do with what I can get

It is clear that CEF have no intention of shutting down. Angnetwork.com made a post explaining CEF’s DMCA notice in further details.

Why is CEF down?

A: Dark Byte’s host received a letter from Lloyd Korn representing Nexon, who cited the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and had his host shut CEF down.

Q: Why didn’t Dark Byte just delete the MapleStory section(s)?
A: He had no choice in this. His host shut him down without much due notice to avoid any legal problems. He also said he will not remove the MapleStory section(s).

Q: What is going to happen now?
A: Dark Byte is currently looking for a new host for CEF. If you have any suggestions around 220 EUR a month, contact him. Be sure the hosts’ country or state laws do not comply with the DMCA.

Q: Where can I contact him?

Q: When will CEF be back up?
A: Whenever Dark Byte finds a new host. The domain name should not change, as it was not registered with the host. Update: The temporary forum is setup at: http://cheatengine.freeforums.org and the cheatengine.org domain is currently directed there.

Our forums, Ossyria’s Gate, have been updated with a major new feature: Maple Services. Maple Services is a system on our forums in which users can easily find parties, guilds, buddies, quest help, and marriages without the hassle of most forums. The excerpt from the post on the forums is below.

I’m really happy to finally unveil my ebil scheme. I’ve been fine tuning this latest feature over the last few weeks seeing how everything would work out. Our newest category, Maple Services, is an interactive category with boards that enable users to easily and quickly find parties, guilds, buddies, quest help, and marriages.

Much like a trading board, topics will be posted pertaining to whichever board topic. On most other forums like Sleepywood and MapleTip, it’s difficult to find parties and friends that present easy contact information and aren’t weeks or months old. To solve this problem, I have created several boards that will encompass every server in the game. Say goodbye to the annoying sub-forums for each world that barely get any use. Here you can find topics that are tagged by each server along with information that will appear in searches.

One major problem still persists: how will you ever find relevant threads when there are tons in one forum? Old threads will be filtered out and locked every 10 days ensuring that the topics are recent and accurate. This will also make it easy to navigate and easier to find parties, buddies, guilds, and more.

I feel that the Maple Services category will further enable the MapleStory community to interact with each other and make new adventures. This idea was inspired by the original purpose of the site, to help maplers new and old. After all, this is where all the great adventures start.

We will also be implementing the Help Point (HP) system. This system will give users points for helping each other out with quests and such. Once a certain amount of points is reached, you can obtain various forum features such as: pinning topics in the Maple Services forums, custom titles, and even mesos/item prizes given by our staff.

I hope everyone thoroughly enjoys this new feature. This is a new start for Ossyria’s Gate. Be sure to read the guideline threads in each forum before posting, otherwise your thread will be locked and you will have to submit a new one.

NexonKiller.com, a popular MapleStory hack site haven as well as black market site, was contacted by NEXON LTD demanding that they remove all hacks and content harming Nexon’s “economy” within 24 hours or else face a lawsuit and pay damages caused.

Dear Respected NK Members, Nexonkiller.com will be removing all hacks as of 04/21/2009, and changing our website name to MMOSpot.net. The reasons behind this are that Nexon LTD has contacted us and gave a final 24 hour warning. This warning stated that if we do not remove all the content that is harming Nexon’s Economy within a 24 hour time frame, we would be sued for damages towards their company. The emails (with signature) and phonecalls we have recieved from Nexon are legitimate. Do not worry though…we will have the same great community; just hack free. We will also be adding new gaming sections, such as Blizzard, Ijji, and Gpotatoe. Our Black Market section is one of a kind and we will be keeping it, along with our amazing power leveling services. This is Nexon’s first major action towards hacking websites since they implemented Chapter 16 “Liquidated Damages” to their Terms of Service.

New Security Update:

Asia Soft SEA has put up a Coming Soon page for MapleStory Episode 2. Asia Soft SEA (South East Asia) owns and operates MapleSEA, the Malaysian and Singaporean MapleStory version. MapleStory Episode 2 has been rumored to come out for some time as well as that the new NEXON Korea game, Everplanet, was MapleStory 2.

Why?

Many will ask why Asia Soft if developing a second version of MapleStory. MapleStory earned it’s rightful place on the wall of epic MMORPG’s by being a creating quirky and unique characters on a lush landscape. Most of all, it was a 2D side scrolling game, which made it a huge success. MapleStory 2 will most likely be 3D as we have seen in several screen shots. This would remove the unique of the game and it would be “just another 3D game.” Many would consider making MapleStory 3D a poor business decision.

It is important to know that MapleSEA is owned and run by Asia Soft SEA. Asia Soft is not a branch of NEXON, it is it’s own company. This is most likely why you have not seen a hint of a sequel to MapleStory on any other versions run by NEXON such as: Korean MapleStory, Chinese MapleStory, and Japanese MapleStory. These versions have been out longer than MapleGlobal and MapleSEA so it remains a mystery why Asia Soft is creating a second version of the game when the first version is not completed.

Whatever the incentive is, we’ll have to wait to find out.

This is a follow up to the previous post.

CareStory was warned by Lloyd Korn to shut down via their forums. The CareStory staff deleted the message and banned user “lulz123″ as a “Lloyd Korn impersonator.” If you’ve been following the previous post on this issue, you’ve probably seen at least 30 hate comments in which CareStory users and staff called us liars. The maturity and trust you have shown us knows no bounds CareStory.

We told you it was legitimate, but you refused to listen to us and heed Mr. Korn’s warning, and instead banned us. Now you have gotten yourselves into deep trouble and may be one of the first MapleStory private servers to be sued by NEXON America.

I would like to take this opportunity to again emphasize that unless stated as alleged or tagged under editorials, our content is 100% legitimate and true. It hurt us to see many viewers call us liars and frauds considering we work extremely hard to bring you the most accurate news. We frown upon those who jump to conclusions and wish NEXON America the best in whatever they choose to do regarding this matter. I hope CareStory gets what they deserve.

By my count you already owe Nexon at least $200,000 in liquidated damages. That does not include the damages we will recover from you at trial for all the copyright and trademark infringement you have perpetuated against MapleStory (think $100,000 per infringement according to the DMCA statutes). You (or should I say your parents) will have to hire an attorney which will no doubt be extremely expensive. I’m sure your parents will be very thrilled to know after they have spent a fortune to try and defend you that all this could have been avoided if you only followed the rules!

I have your personal information and am receiving more from all those people who hate you and hate your site (and there are many) who want to see you get shut down. If I don’t hear from you ASAP that you have shut down carestory.net, its server and care-elite.net, you will give us no choice but to take action against you, your buddy Makey and everyone else involved in carestory.net. You will also in that e-mail promise me that you will not to open carestory.net up again or own or operate any other forms of MapleStory private servers.
