   I personally think what NEXON is doing is pointless. I feel that they are being extremely greedy. I have played the game since GMS beta and I still liked playing it but not with the 10-12 hours for one level kind of deal. I don’t like what NEXON is doing because I feel that its extremely pointless as in, they shutdown the private servers…well thats not going to bring us back, thats going to make us quit.

   Also, since I’m in high school, I dont like paying real money to get NX because I need to think of my future. I think all new players should play GMS for AT LEAST a year before they even think of playing private servers because NEXON do need their players so private servers should just be for the veteran players of Maplestory. I personally think its a great game but theres some things I think NEXON should fix:

   -The rates, they’re too low and it takes 10-12 hours to level for me just for my lvl 93.
   -Reducing the times for ships to different continents.
   -Do a lot more events, just not on holidays.
   -Have active GameMasters that acually talk to the players.
   -Respond quickly to bugs and glitches and try to patch hacks as fast as you can and maybe IP ban and MAC adress the hackers since thats what private servers do.

   Since I’m a MapleStory player myself, I figure I can state my opinion as well.

   Like Tribunal, I’ve played MapleStory since it was in it’s beta version. I was introduced to the game from a friend across the street and slowly I was hooked. MapleStory is a fun game and allows you to meet people and have a lot of fun. I know for me, once the user abuse became widespread…not only hacking, but scamming, harassment, etc. the game began to lose it’s glimmer. The tendency to trust someone because you thought they were your friend suddenly ended up in you being betrayed and stabbed in the back. For a young kid, this wasn’t exactly fun.

   MapleStory became something I just did because I was used to it and I had friends there. It stopped being fun but I played anyway. The constant grind and time dedication it took to even make it past a level was distressing at high levels. I know the game wasn’t meant to be easy, but it revolves around getting to the next “step,” via a level. I was extremely anti-Private Server when I first heard of them. Not until I played FlowsionMS did I truly see that MapleStory could be about having fun and enjoying yourself, rather than just “leveling up.” It reminded me of the beta version of MapleGlobal with friendly GM’s and fun adventures.

   When OdinMS was sued the MapleStory community was turned upside down. The amount of over $500,000 shocked a lot of people, including myself. I didn’t know much about OdinMS or Private Servers at the time, but I soon learned.

   We all know it’s about money. Money makes the world go round as the saying goes. Money has corrupted this world for as long as it has existed. NEXON America has a very special game on their hands, but it seems they’re about ready to throw it away. We all know that MapleStory is their intellectual property, and I respect that. I do think they have the right to protect it especially against those using it for their own personal needs. However, I do think there are a small group of Private Servers that only care about having fun…and if they do accept donations, I’m sure some of them only use it for their server costs.

   I’ve always encouraged people to play the official version, and I know our posts do not always reflect that…but we model our posts after what the community is thinking and sometimes our own personal reactions. From the way things are going, MapleStory is slowly being destroyed. Private Servers are a tricky business…but I think it’s time the official versions themselves start focusing on improving their content so they won’t have to resort to suing Private Servers because no one will want to leave their game because it’s so good. That’s how things used to be, it’s not to late to change it.

   You guys said you wanted suggestions to make the game better, so here are some of my personal suggestions I have for NEXON America:

   -Do not alter the rates. I realize that will completely destroy the balance of the game.
   -Have more 2x exp events…hell, even 4x or 8x exp events! I know people were ecstatic in Demethos when they had 8x exp! Even if it’s just for an hour or two it really helps to boost the moral of players!
   -Have GM’s actually INTERACT with the players! I don’t know where it’s written in the ToS that GM’s are supposed to have little to no contact with the players. Be friendly! Talk to them! I’ve seen some GM’s contacting players via chat which I think is great! People like being reassured that they’re being listened to and that they haven’t been forgotten.
   -LISTEN to the players. I know NEXON has repeatedly said they do listen to players…and maybe they do…but they do not implement anything maplers suggest. If you listen but don’t act, then it’s just a waste of time for both parties.
   -Offer more NX sales and possible monster-droppable NX events. Just an idea…just putting it out there. It might encourage people to actually buy NX cash.

   I hope my comments provoke some interest and can help make the game better…I sincerely do.

   I am one of the few people who are proud of Nexon.

   I agree with Savage, that they need to have more events, interact more, etc., and then maybe more people won’t go to private servers.

   According to LAW, using Nexon property is a punishable crime of copyright infringement. Not only could the severs be sued, they could also be criminally charged if they do not comply.

   And to all of those who play PS’s, think about it. You people are using Nexon intellectual property, ILLEGALY.

   However, Nexon definitely needs to work on their costumer service. One of the reasons why people go to PSs is because they listen to them more. If we had MORE GM ACTIVITY, and if they actually looked into the reports that are filed, we wouldn’t have this problem.

   i’m not gonna give a detailed explanation but here’s what i have to say. i dislike the fact that Nexon is shutting down all of these private servers but, then again, they really have no choice. im not agreeing with Nexon but im only saying that they themselves need that monopoly over servers. i do agree with the rest of you guys about things like gm involvement but in reality, Nexon is Nexon and as long as they have that monopoly, they don’t care about the things we want if it’s inconvenient for them.

   Nexon does somethings that are bad and good, such as giving us events, and and giving us Online Games to play with, but the bad thing is that Nexon doesn’t take care of their users.Nexon may hold events,but they never would chat with other Maplers, Or become friendly with us.Nexon should really hire more people to handle their games and make them a better community so we can have fun.Nexon can also be bad, because it’s their fault for making private servers happen.If Nexon had plenty of “Nice events” in store for us, no one would edit Maplestory’s Files and make a private server,Instead they would be hanging out and chatting with the community.Since Fall of 2007 much of the events have been repeated, which means no new ideas or any additional stuff.Nexon may have released new maps, but that’s not enough.Wizet was better off without Nexon taking over…Anyways Nexon seems to be back in control for a little…

   When Wizet bid goodbye to MapleStory, I was like, yay! no more haxors!. I thought Nexon will be far more better than Wizet. But i was very wrong.

   So, I was playing the new generation of MapleStory. Many events were hosted at the first week of Nexon reign to Maple. So I was having fun at that time. But then, Disaster came. And it is the arrival of Meso bags, and Exp Gacha. That’s my greatest scare for MapleStory. The use of NX cash to make your character improve better. Wizet promised before that they WON’T ever use MaplePoints for the improvement of your character, except on clothes and hair, etc.

   Next thing, is the Private Server sueing portion. Yeah, I agree that PSes are making their income lower. But they shouldn’t just give a CAD letter to the owners of those Private Servers. There is a different way to stop servers. And definitely not scaring the owners. That will just made other MapleStory players angry.

   NEXT! The hack period. During the time of v0.38, hacks were everywhere! I hack, you hack, everyone hack! And I still didn’t get banned.

   Lastly, the patheticness and idleness that was all around in MapleStory now. Nexon stealing money from kids (Yeah, I used stealing because there was no difference on what they are doing now and stealing money from the kid players.), CAD letters on Fiel, etc.

   If you are reading this Nexon, you can still change it, by you changing, not us.

   Being restricted by the rule saying that I’m not allowed to be an obnoxious moron, I shall restrict myself from swearing.

   I am what you can call a veteran of GMS. I’ve been playing since Beta and have seen all the various changes that Global Maple Story has gone through. To me, Maple Story felt like a high potential game, a game that would be able to change the future of MMORPG. I was right.

   However, over the years, the game deteriorated. Why? Because of poor management.

   As stated by a recent article on this site, Nexon was rated F by the Better Business Management Bureau , a remarkable eye opener and a disappointed summary. Goes to show how terrible the management of Nexon is.

   Another poor decision on Nexon’s part is the decision to send Cease and Desist letters to all Maple Story private servers.

   Instead of spending on the actual game itself, to improve it beyond the current crappy nature, they are choosing to eliminate the competition.

   They don’t consider the fact that by doing this, they are not getting extra customers, but instead are getting more haters. It brings to thought about the reason why a company would pay to get more haters.

   An example of wonderful management is Blizzard. As you all know, Blizzard is the creator of the extremely popular game, Starcraft. Their recent project has been the World of Warcraft, and if you do some research, there are plenty of private servers out there that host World of Warcraft.

   The big difference you see is that Blizzard has taken very little action against many of private servers. Even though I’m really inexperience with anything to do with business management, I suspect Blizzard knows that World of Warcraft players would rather play on the original, rather some private server. This shows that Blizzard has confidence that the original is better than any private server out there.

   Nexon, however knows that the private servers are better than the original. That’s why they are shutting down private servers instead of investing in the original game.

   Just my two cents.

    Apparently, all the private servers Nexon attempted to shut down has regards to the DMCA… meaning they can only be touched if the server is hosted within the USA. The rest are safe. If they had to resort to the DMCA to shut down private servers… let’s just say, eventually, private servers will be invincible, being hosted in countries without such laws, although unauthorized, aren’t technically illegal.

    Anyways… my opinion of Nexon? To be honest, I really hate them. They screw up everything, really bad customer service, and in general, they do a bad job. They are like whiny prepubescent kids who want everything for themselves, or they will “tell”.

    Nexon screwed up pretty much everything. There was the hacker problem, and then there was the NX advantage problem. Then followed the ban screw ups, and generally, the neglect of the already bad community. Who would want to play in an environment as bad as this?

    Nexon knew they couldn’t match the quality gameplay of the private servers, so instead of trying to improve themselves to compete, they try to kill the competition. This involved the hacking of private servers, intimidation, C&D…

    KremeChoco hacked FinalStory once and tried to take over by screwing up the database :/ Ultimately she failed, but nevertheless was kinda scary.

    Anyways back on topic. It sounds too samey to everyone else. Well, I guess I share too many opinions.

    Maplestory has really been messed up imo there are still many hackers and as Tribunal said that their rates are really low they may want to have a challenge but to really experience to full extent or the maximum amount of fun in this game is hard when you are only lvl 42 grinding your way in CPQ’s or something like that. They should at least raise the rates to like more than 2x but i don’t think they will but oh well. Hopefully people actually do something but many other people may like how it is right now but that is their opinion so i cant say much.
