Quick Chat ShoutBox and Polls

Posted by Savage On August - 28 - 2008

I’ve added some cool little things to spice up the Maple-News Network website and your experience here. Most notable is our Quick Chat ShoutBox and Polls system.

The Quick Chat ShoutBox is a place where readers can chat much like if they were in an instant message chatroom. You can exchange chats, meet new maplers, and just tell us what’s on your mind. As an added bonus, if you make a Maple-News Account you will be automatically signed into the ShoutBox. If you find any errors with the ShoutBox, please report them to us here. Be advised that the ShoutBox will be heavily moderated so those of you who decide to act up and cause problems will get the BanBullet.

The Polls system is very straightforward. We’ve added Polls to the website so when you visit Maple-News.com a new poll will pop up and you can give us valuable feedback. Every vote counts!

This is the beginning of many more updates to come. Enjoy.

The Truth of MapleGeek

Posted by Savage On August - 26 - 2008

I received an email to a link on RageZone forums talking about how MapleGeek truly ended from a former owner of MapleGeek. Here’s what Matthias had to say.

Note: Please be aware that strong language is used in the post below. Read at your own risk.

The post below is a primary source account by Matthias. We can not fully determine what is accurate and what is not. Please be advised.

The Truth of MapleGeek

It all started with Jon and Jen. Now why was MapleGeek such a great community to begin with? And then now why has it dropped down to something so low? Well here’s the true story from start to finish. If you are newer members of MapleGeek, you may not know me as I quit my job for the following reasons I am about to explain. But I am a senior MapleGeek Game Master. I was originally one of the first few staff members to join the team. It saddens me that the community is in the state of how it is now, but it’s all one person’s fault. Locolijo.

Why I became a MapleGeek staff member.
When MapleGeek first came out, I joined it since the OdinMS forum was in chaos with a new staff member and people were complaining about her. I was looking for a nicer community. One that was something I could enjoy instead of it being hectic like in OdinMS. To tell you the truth, I didn’t really know what I was getting into. I thought this would be a great community, but I was wrong. What would be the wrong thing you ask? Locolijo.

About Locolijo
So why do I hate Locolijo (also known as Jon) so much? Well for one he can barely even speak English and everything we writes has some motherfucking typo. Remember how every single time the server files were updated, there would be at least one or more typos in the scrolling header. The whole board index was filled with typos until Aphrodite fixed all of them. What else you ask? He’s a total suck-up. He sucks up for every god damn thing he wants. Everything he does is only for the benefit of himself. Not only this, but he’s a money scamming bastard. That’s the main reason why I quit. I’m refuse to work under a scammer. I just cannot tolerate it. Everything will be revealed in the following true story of MapleGeek that Locolijo has been hiding from all of you. He’s already been banned on OdinMS.de, he’s hated on RaGEZONE and Nautilus Port, so there has to be a reason why everyone hates him right? Read on and find out!

False Propaganda
Locolijo has been lying to you all. Every single time there’s a “OMG BIG UPDATES COMING SOON!” why is it coincidental the the server keeps crashing? It’s because Locolijo doesn’t know how to fix it. Adding more RAM to the server won’t do anything if you haven’t fixed the memory leaks. This just proves that he has no idea what the fuck he’s doing. Not only that the Locolijo failed to update the server files correctly via SVN. Essentially he has no idea how OdinMS works and how it’s structured, which is why MapleGeek is so unstable and lacks in custom content compared to the top private servers.

The LocalMS Server Files
So why did Locolijo “have the OdinMS server files” from LocalMS but not start the server? It was because Locolijo was trying to suck up to LocalMS Administrator Paul for them. He tried as much dick sucking as he could and only got part of the server files while lacking the SQL database. He didn’t know how to make one and when Paul was smart enough to realize Locolijo did not deserve the server files, he took away his staff position on LocalMS.

The MapleGeek Split from Aphrodite – The beginning of the downfall of MapleGeek – Locolijo scams hundreds of dollars
MapleGeek was once ranked 1st on XtremeTop100. Currently I’m looking at the rankings and it’s ranked 52. How has it gone down so much? The main reason is because all of what was liable for MapleGeek is now gone. I have left, Valce has technically left (he’s a mole on the staff for us :) ), and of course, Aphrodite was left. For you new members, Aphrodite used to the the co-Super Administrator with Locolijo here at MapleGeek. Now many of you may not know this, but Locolijo and Aphrodite were actually a couple. They were in a relationship until about December of last year. The importance of Aphrodite was that she was the money manager since she had a job while Locolijo didn’t. Being in love, Aphrodite was willing to buy many things for her moneyless boyfriend under his name such as this very Invision Power Board you are on at the moment. Another thing he had to buy were the dedicated servers in which MapleGeek would run on. Having no job, Locolijo had Aphrodite pay for it. Luckily due to the large amount, this was the only thing Aphrodite payed for under her name instead of Locolijo’s name. Although they broke up, Aphrodite was still Super Administrator on and Locolijo did not want this. He convinced her that he should obtain all donations and he would only spend that money on the server, however this was just his plan. He was waiting to gather as many donators as he could so once he had a stable amount of money to sustain the server himself, he would kick out Aphrodite since he no longer would need her. After all of the money she spent on him, it totals to literally a couple hundred dollars in which he will never ever pay back. When I found this out, I immediately quit the team because I refuse to work under such a faggot. I should’ve left earlier since Locolijo was trying to always keep us quit about all of the lies he’s been telling to all of you. Anyway, Locolijo finally found out the the time to take Aphrodite out of the picture once Aphrodite started yelling at him. But she was yelling at him for good reason because she found out he was spending the donation money for his own needs on non-server related items such as NX Cash for the official MapleGlobal service. Here is a screenshot of his PayPal transactions:

This was obtained directly from Locolijo himself since he was showing ClaireFTW, a donator, his transactions trying to prove that he was paying for the server. He crossed out one transaction which was probably the fish bowl he bought for his fish. But you can see that he has been spending a lot of money on NX Cash. SoftLayer Technologies Inc. is the dedicated server host if you were wondering.

Not only was this one reason for the split, another was actually over love for a MapleGeek player. You may know Faith. She used to be the #1 one on this server. Locolijo, being the pedophile he is, fell in love with her and gave her free items. When he realized Aphrodite was talking to her, he became angry that she was simply communicating with her, probably fearing she would tell her the real truth of him. So due to this series of unfortunate events, Locolijo then put his plan into action and moved everything off the dedicated server in which Aphrodite had access to and bought his own dedicated server with the donation money, shunning and banning Aphrodite from the community. (This is where I quit.) By the way, one thing to add here. The ironic thing is that Locolijo was complaining that Aphrodite was too strict on rules. But once he kicked her out he started banning players for simply just saying one or two curse words in-game or on the forum. Did Aphrodite ever do that? Who’s stricter? Him or Aphrodite? You decide.

Dev-OdinMS.com
Locolijo isn’t even a developer! He has no coding experience! So why did he create Dev-OdinMS.com? Well after OdinMS shut down their forums due to legal issues, he created Dev-OdinMS.com hoping people would post their development projects and patches so he could benefit his server.
Now look at this quote from his “Server Updates” post:

Quote:
<MapleGeek Updates>

and Much Much More!

Source: http://www.maplegeek.com/forums/inde…howtopic=17556

Now look at Dev-OdinMS.com’s Development section. Hrm…
Cash shop… Guild Party Quest… messenger… hrm. Compare the modifications on Dev-OdinMS.com with the coincidental new feature releases on MapleGeek. Is that a coincidence? Obviously he’s getting all of the new content from Dev-OdinMS.com. That’s why you shouldn’t post anything on that website because he’s just there to leech off of your development work.

Nautilus Port
After I left MapleGeek, I joined with Acrylic and Snow to establish the new MapleStory Tespia/v0.58 development community called Nautilus Port. Due to our progressions, Locolijo became jealous. Note that he claimed our server files are “fake” in the latest news post he’s posted in the Important News and Updates:
Greeting Geeks,

This time there isn’t good news at all about the future of MapleGeek. We’ve been thinking about this for several weeks with the administration team about continuing or closing MapleGeek.

First of all, OdinMS was closed and the development is no longer active, we could use any repacks or w.e, but thats not how MapleGeek works and there aren’t any repacks with the newest version of MapleGlobal Client. All the repacks are crap anyways. Naitulius Port or whatever name they use is “fake” right now,…
Now call this proof fake:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=9zkzmFShDdE
We’re helping the entire MapleStory private server community get out of v0.55 forever onto v0.58+ and he treats my community like shit? Obviously he’s just jealous since his server has gone down the drain while we’re helping everyone update. (By the way if you’re interested on updating your server to v0.58/Tespia, just wait because soon we plan on a public release of the Odin Snow server files we’ve been working on. We hope you’ll enjoy it and hope that the entire private server community can continue even with all of the legal issues with OdinMS!) In his jealously, he bought the NautulusPort.COM domain in attempt to steal visitors. You can tell because if you go to NautilusPort.COM right now, it redirects to MapleGeek.COM. (The real community URL is NautilusPort.NET.) You can tell because of the WHOIS information on the domains for MapleGeek.COM and NautilusPort.COM.
http://www.networksolutions.com/whoi…=maplegeek.com
http://www.networksolutions.com/whoi…utilusport.com
As you can see the WHOIS information is basically identical to one another. The both use the same domain provider called 1&1 Internet, Inc. and they are both using the same name servers to connect to the dedicated server host called SoftLayer.

And now you know the truth about how Locolijo is a total faggot and deserves to rot along with his server. I urge all of you to stop playing on this server and stop donating. You are only funding a scamming, ignorant loser who only does things for his own benefit and has no concern for those around him.

And as Snow would say… “and that was storytime with Matthias.”

Discuss.

BigFoot Glitch Abusers Beware

Posted by Savage On August - 22 - 2008

BigFoot glitch abusers should beware. NEXON America posted a notice on their MapleGlobal website warning that users who have abused the BigFoot glitch and those who are currently abusing the glitch will be delt with with an iron fist.

Attention Maplers,

We have received many reports from fellow players regarding the Big Foot glitch. It is indeed a glitch and we are working on fixing the error. We would like to remind you that knowingly abusing a glitch to one’s own advantage is not something we tolerate. Those caught abusing the Big Foot glitch will be punished and those who have already knowingly abused it will be dealt with.

We would like to thank all those who reported this serious issue. Your care for the MapleStory game community is greatly appreciated.

We apologize for this inconvenience

Those who flooded forums claiming it wasn’t a glitch must feel pretty silly right now.

Website Sign Ups Now Open

Posted by Savage On August - 21 - 2008

This is more of an experiment than really a full fledged feature. We noticed that a lot of you (okay all of you) enjoy posting on our website rather than our forums. So, I figured I’d open sign-ups for the website itself. What’s the website itself? Maple-News.com. What do I get if I sign up? An account as a subscriber on our website. As an added bonus, you wont have to fill out that whole “Name, Website, Email” form when you post comments. You just log-in (and keep yourself logged in by clicking ‘Remember Me’) and you can comment away.

So what happens next? If this goes well we may consider making a forum on the website (like that of Basil Market) where you can just post directly on the website or we’ll find some nifty program where we can sync forum accounts or something like that and make your website accounts more customizable.

Anyway…if you’re into this sort of thing you can register by Clicking Here and manage yourself with the panel on the bottom right of the site.

Happy reading!

Yellonde Drama

Posted by Savage On August - 21 - 2008

Yellonde has not been out even seven days and already panic and uproar is spreading throughout the server. Between the BigFoot glitch and complaints of a crappy communtiy and such, people are already counting Yellonde out. The drama went to the extent of popular MapleStory forum, Sleepywood, having to shut down the Yellonde sub-forum entirely.

I’m a Yellondian myself and I don’t agree that Yellonde is doomed. Yellonde is what you make it and a lot of people are choosing to make it a miserable server only for the rich. Not to mention the way people treat each other…is rather…disgusting and pathetic. If you’re hurting someone at the expense of a game, you need to get your morals straight.

It’s what you make it Yellonde. Don’t waste this opprotunity.

The BigFoot Glitch

Posted by Savage On August - 19 - 2008

Since the version 0.59 patch one of the new monsters, Big Foot, has been glitched enabling users to take advantage of this, mainly hermits and fire/poison mages. The effects of the glitch have been noticed most in the latest MapleGlobal server, Yellonde. The top five ranks in Yellonde belong to hermits (ranks 1 and 2) and Fire/Poison mages (ranks 3-5). NEXON scheduled a Server Maintenance Check for 10 PM PDT tonight that is probably being held to fix this glitch.

Many Yellondians are in an uproar over the unfair advantages these users are taking advantage of and calling for the glitch and the users to be delt with. Whether NEXON will actually do something, is another thing. In other servers such as Scania the strong feeling of being cheated out has not been felt.

The BigFoot monster can be seen below (image courtesy of Hidden-Street):

The Watchmen Movie

Posted by Savage On August - 18 - 2008

Many moviegoers have seen the amazing preview for the new film due to come out in February of 2009, The Watchmen, based on the comic book series. Directed by Zack Snyder the film is already getting quite a bit of attention. Already announced to MTV, Zack Snyder has asked My Chemical Romance to do a cover of the Bob Dylan song, Desolation Row, for the end credits and single for the movie. Comic book fans are eagerly waiting for the release of The Watchmen. I personally can’t wait to see it. You can check out the awesome trailer below.

MapleStory Fansite Rivalries

Posted by Savage On August - 15 - 2008

Over the years the amount of MapleStory fansites has transitioned from a small page to a huge catalog. With the drastic increase of MapleStory fansites over just four years rivalries have developed as expected…but some have turned out to be brutal. From blamed DDoS attacks (DDoS stands for “Denial of Service” or “Distributed Denial of Service” which is when a person or a group of people try to make a website unavailable to others) to egotistical actions and pure hatred. The MapleStory fansite community has turned out to be quite unpleasant.

MapleStory fansites were created to create and provide an outside community from the in-game community where users can find information and chat. It started with Hidden-Street and Sleepywood, the first MapleStory database site and first successful MapleStory forum. Later sites like MapleTip and Basil Market developed. In some cases what became important changed from just making sure your users were happy and delivering the best content, to the need for power and money. I’m not going to name names, but I’m sure you can think of several cases where this has happened.

Some veteran MapleStory fansites have become increasingly vicious, not only to their users but as well as new fansites wishing to affiliate. With MapleStory’s quick increase in popularity over the years, some administrators and users have begun to despise new users and children alike. A “power struggle” continues to wage on daily between fansites such as Sleepywood.net and MapleTip.com as punches are thrown from one side…but not always redelivered by the other. Maplers may think that the only power in MapleStory can be found by becoming the highest level, but fansites sometimes hold more power than the players in MapleStory themselves.

The tides are changing between fansite rivalries, and those who have kept to themselves and stayed neutral will most definitely remain while those who enjoy picking fights and attacking the innocent, will most likely be soon forgotten and looked back on with great shame of what opprotunities were wasted at the cost of money and power.

Yellonde: Leveling Madness

Posted by Loliness On August - 15 - 2008

Well, it’s been more than 24 hours since v. 0.59 and Yellonde were released to the Global community, providing a fresh start for veteran Maplers, another answer to “which world should I play in?” for first-timers, and a chance to shine for ridiculous no-life powerlevelers (XD, just kidding). In those 24 hours, several people have already passed level 45. 24 hours after Yellonde’s release, the highest-leveled characters were already at 47; notably (but not surprisingly), all of the top 15 or so are mages. In fact, as of 8/15/2008, 3:30 PM PST, 67% of the top 100 in Yellonde are mages. (This statistic was obtained by going through the Yellonde rankings and counting how many characters weren’t mages, lol.)

The question always remains: are the top 5 getting a little “extra assistance” from hacking programs? Or is it just because they’re really, really good at leveling (or do they have no life [lol, just kidding])? To be factored in is the 2x experience that all of Yellonde is currently having.

And then there’s always the future to think about. Who’s gonna hit 70 first, and when? Hell, who’s gonna hit 200 first, and when? Right now, it’s a bit early, but it’s still worth thinking about. For now, just have fun, and always keep an eye on the rankings!
