I really don’t see a reason that this should be a big deal. Yeah MapleStory hasn’t had a downtime this long, but what about before it was released? Think of the beginning stages. I’m pretty sure that developing an online game could take an EXTREMELY long long time.
Another thing, Nexon probably regret releasing it at the time they did. And probably felt that it was necessary to take it down. Thus I find their response reasonable. They didn’t say yes it will be gone for good, nor did they say it’ be up any time soon. Also, if people complained about the “lack of content” while it was up, so why are they complaining still? Make up your minds. Would you rather have more content or less? Wouldn’t it be more fun if there was more content?

Let me tell you something..a little history about the “beta” stages of KartRider.
Released on May,1st, 2007 for Closed Beta
Closed on June 1st, 2007 for Closed Beta
No information what’s so ever for a few months
Released on October 1st, 2007 for Open Beta
1 or 2 new things added, nothing more. (That’s a long time)
Closed on March 2Xth for Closed Beta
DELAYED the closing at a later date in March.(!!??)
Through out the whole Open beta, barely any development happened.
See, it’s really funny how people talk about this when really, they don’t know the whole history behind it.
It’s been so long that it doesn’t matter whether or not we have content, We KNOW we won’t get ANY at all.
2ndly, Early stages? Really hard to develop? Is that so? The Beta period in Korea was 1 week. in China, it was nearly that time too. Why does America take Nearly a year? To remind, Korea was the first one to develop the game, Nexon America doesn’t have to develop anymore, all they need to do is translate and do some other coding which to my knowledge wouldn’t need 1 year now would it?

MapleStory turned out to be a direct hit. So why close down that for a long time?
But KartRider… Just didnt turn out so well. Which a beta version shouldnt. Because the whole point of a beta version is for other people to test the game and get response out of it.

KartRider is the only game so far that has beaten StarCraft in the # of people that played it.
It’s Nexon’s biggest game.

Look at our beta server, has the number of players online exceeded 10,000? i dont think so. you quit ur current room and rejoin again, you could end up in the same room and face the same people who had just palyed with you earlier. Nexon treated this game as a “Non-profitble” game, the key is – it had drew too little attention.
on the other hand, china server has reached 600,000 players on the server at the same time during its peak. Korean server has a gross of 30 million players/account, well that explained why their server is running smooth while we dont even have a server.

Well,… the game is good and all……….. I think they take it down because
they leak resource and spend too much money on the game to get it develop and while they aren’t getting any money at all and server is over popular. Is just my prediction people.
FZ how can this game drew too little attention?
MS have been so popular and focus on kids. If MS players were to order NX on the website big possibility they will notice the game Kart rider.
And kart rider were pretty much a kid game too.

I believe when Mabinogi which has been a big hit will end that will propably be the time when kartrider will be back. b/c on the G3S1 preview video it said the last chapter of the saga. if you think mabinogi is a huge hit in korea and china. that also goes for america. they are probably focusing on Mabinogi right now THEN kartrider.

lol…Developing is not required as it is korean game (all nexon / ijji games are korean games ). And it seems its already 100% developed even in NA. And they are not opening it because of the actual server problems, If you seriously want to play kartrider, e-mail me I will send you a copy of (Korean BETA in 2003) Kartrider. Thx

Nexon had a deal with Nintendo about a year ago, in the deal nexon will develope games for the DS.
The deal also included apperently a part censored for public:
Nexon would stop working on North American Kart Rider before the release of mario kart wii.
Yes that’s what you heard.
Nintendo wanted monopoly and knew that they could lose alot of money for people that rather play a game almost the same for free.

nexon is well known to be a company that releases these free games ONLY if they can make a profit out of it. Also its hard for any non-koreans to even create an account on the korean nexon website cuz u need a korean social security number with the matching name. u may ask why koreans do this but its for security measures so that they can lessen the hacking/scamming process which koreans seem to be good at.

i heard tha kartrider had a economical downfall and will be shut down indefinitely for a period of time.but kart rider had over 1 million players.kart rider was a good game.My prediction i that before nexon and nintendo were working together,there was this hit game called mario kart and until kartrider started its first beta, people have been saying its a rip-off mario kart.i say it looks nothin like kartrider.When nexon and nintendo teamed up, probably nintendo probably asked nexon to stop working on kartrider.mario kart wii is an alright game but, i prefer kartrider. kart rider is more realistic.the drifting is way better then mario kart.maybe if kart rider never teamed up with nintendo,nexon wouldve launched official version a long time ago.Nexon’s Sugar Rush beta ended. so if the end sugar rush, maybe kart rider will come back and launch the official version around the release months 2 years ago like March or June.nintendo probably said if mario kart wii has more players than kart rider, nexon stops working on kartrider.hopefully not.i played mario kart wii but i prefer that kart rider is better than mariokart.well,i just want kart rider to come back.My Solid E2 kart is cold and waiting for me.

yea… im getting sick of nexon. that kartriders game was fun. but mapestory is just addictive torment. I had gotten at least past level 5 before they changed it from closd beta to open beta. then after getting to a higher level i took a break form the game for a while and it dissapears. Im done with nexon. im switching maplestory for world of warcraft and kart rider for drift city. ^ ^

I have been waiting for a very long time for Nexon to do something about Kart Rider. It seems as if they just abandoned it! I fucking hate Maplestory. I havent played that shit in ages! I think its so lame now its the same shit over and over I whack a fucking snail to level up and ohhh new gear wowie!!! I get tired of that. I want Kart rider I miss kartrider. I prefer racing games than those exploring games. The thought of having an ONLINE racing game just blew my mind. Then wham the americans got lazy. Why is it that the Koreans and Chinese people them could get their shit together and the americans cant? Not enough time spent in school or something? I bet they blame it on the economy. People just want Kart Rider. fuck the other shit.

North American Kart Rider is definitely not coming back. You guys should play Popkart or Korean Kartrider, although Korean Kartrider is a bitch to register and get Cash for decent karts like SR’s if you don’t know Korean.

*Sighs* This is kind of depressing…One day a thought came to my mind about ‘Kart Rider’ (haven’t thought about it for a very long time) so I went on Nexon expecting for it to be there. Not there. I don’t understand why Nexon doesn’t release it-It was a popular enough game, and I like it a whole lot more then the endless grinding of MS. KR is a better casual game.

There have been rumors that Kart Rider will be released in late August. Although I seriously doubt those rumors have any credibility, I would be ecstatic if they were true. Kart Rider is probably my favorite game and I’ve been playing Popkart ever since. I’ve even spent some money on Popkart. Ahah. If Kart Rider comes out, hell yeah I’m buying NX. Something Nexon should think about is that Americans love to win, and if better cars cost NX, then they’re a shoo-in to be bought up right away.

yes there has been lots of rumors about the release date about kartrider but hopefully its true. There have been movements and large amounts of players that have been waiting for the game and its sad to see Nexon doesnt realize how much profit they could earn from this game. Theres this kartrider forum called KartExtreme (surprisingly still up) and they have alot of members that are trying to start a petition or notice to Nexon to help push the game. Check it out.
