A New Breed Of Hacking: Hex Editing – The Undead
Yes, sadly there is a new breed of hacking growing in the deepest crevices of MapleStory’s hacker population. The lowest of the low have created a new type of hacking where you have the ability to change a monster who is at it’s normal type, to an undead monster. Yes, I said undead. Hacker forums have been abuzz about such programs and tutorials have been written. How is this being done? The code is being changed by hex editing the files which gives hackers the ability to manipulate the monsters by changing them into an undead monster, which gives a huge advantage to players using clerics. They can gain mass amounts of EXP, without even taking a hit.
We feel it necessary to report this to you all as here at Maple-News we are intent on giving you the truth and never hiding any information from you. Please be wary of these hackers and if you run into one, please report them. Get the word out to Nexon so that they can deal with this problem before it becomes another hacking epidemic that can ruin our gaming experience.
Guild Hack Compensation…not coming?
After the end of the recent guild hacking that occurred in MapleGlobal over the last several weeks. Nexon and the MapleStory staff made an announcement saying that they were taking appropriate measures to think up a “Compensation Plan.” Everyone was told to submit a ticket with the appropriate title name and information. -Hime- on MapleStory Nexon forums then said that they were not accepting anymore tickets due to the mass inflow and inability of their staff to deal with them. So that’s where our billions of dollars go to? Lining the inside of the CEO’s pockets? You think they could shed a little cash to hire a few more workers? This brings up the question to what is Nexon really doing with our money and more importantly are they just going to blow off the guilds that were hacked? Like George Bush and 9/11, Nexon has failed to redeem themselves and seize the chance to prove that they can really take care of their people, in our case MapleGlobal users. In my eyes, and many others Nexon has failed and we shouldn’t expect our guilds back, or any compensation anytime soon.
Piece of Cake #8
Yup, we are up to number 8 already ![]()
This time I got you a really easy one. It shouldn’t take you too much time, and it’s fun.
Piece of Cake
Hey there…
On the last few “Piece of cake” there was no response at all… So I was wandering:
- Are you interested in Piece of cake, or is it just boring?
- Do you prefer I will write something else?
- If you want me to write something else, what would you like it to be about?
- Or maybe you prefer a “Piece of Cake” with prizes (I could give credits or reputation on the forums)?
So please post here so I will know what interests you! And I’ll try my best.
Thanks, Orbis
Humanity still exists
I would like to thank B0WJOB for this find. This story enlightened me to my view to humanity so I decided to share it here although it is not related to MapleStory.
Julio Diaz has a daily routine. Every night, the 31-year-old social worker ends his hour-long subway commute to the Bronx one stop early, just so he can eat at his favorite diner.
But one night last month, as Diaz stepped off the No. 6 train and onto a nearly empty platform, his evening took an unexpected turn.
He was walking toward the stairs when a teenage boy approached and pulled out a knife.
“He wants my money, so I just gave him my wallet and told him, ‘Here you go,’” Diaz says.
As the teen began to walk away, Diaz told him, “Hey, wait a minute. You forgot something. If you’re going to be robbing people for the rest of the night, you might as well take my coat to keep you warm.”
The would-be robber looked at his would-be victim, “like what’s going on here?” Diaz says. “He asked me, ‘Why are you doing this?’”
Diaz replied: “If you’re willing to risk your freedom for a few dollars, then I guess you must really need the money. I mean, all I wanted to do was get dinner and if you really want to join me … hey, you’re more than welcome.
“You know, I just felt maybe he really needs help,” Diaz says.
Diaz says he and the teen went into the diner and sat in a booth.
“The manager comes by, the dishwashers come by, the waiters come by to say hi,” Diaz says. “The kid was like, ‘You know everybody here. Do you own this place?’”
“No, I just eat here a lot,” Diaz says he told the teen. “He says, ‘But you’re even nice to the dishwasher.’”
Diaz replied, “Well, haven’t you been taught you should be nice to everybody?”
“Yea, but I didn’t think people actually behaved that way,” the teen said.
Diaz asked him what he wanted out of life. “He just had almost a sad face,” Diaz says.
The teen couldn’t answer Diaz — or he didn’t want to.
When the bill arrived, Diaz told the teen, “Look, I guess you’re going to have to pay for this bill ’cause you have my money and I can’t pay for this. So if you give me my wallet back, I’ll gladly treat you.”
The teen “didn’t even think about it” and returned the wallet, Diaz says. “I gave him $20 … I figure maybe it’ll help him. I don’t know.”
Diaz says he asked for something in return — the teen’s knife — “and he gave it to me.”
Afterward, when Diaz told his mother what happened, she said, “You’re the type of kid that if someone asked you for the time, you gave them your watch.”
“I figure, you know, if you treat people right, you can only hope that they treat you right. It’s as simple as it gets in this complicated world.”

Follow Up : Guild hacking.
Here is the reply I got from Nexon.
We have been receiving numerous reports regarding the guild hack that has been affecting guilds across all of our servers. It is unfortunate that this has happened. We are investigating and working on rectifying the situation. We will provide more information when we can. Please keep in mind that even though we do not address certain situations immediately, it does not mean we are not aware of what is going on. Information needs to be gathered before we can make a statement.
Thank you for your patience and we apologize for any inconveniences this may have caused.
In other info, I have received news that more than 25 guilds i have just discovered that over 50% of the guilds in Khaini (the active ones) have been hit have been disbanded in Khaini by a SOLO hacker. That is kind of really bad for Nexon to even neglect that. And this is only in one server by one person guys. Imagine what is happening throughout the other servers.
The image on the left is clickable to enlargen and I would like to thank yuki385 for uploading it to her LJ account.

Some new feature GMS has added onto but it promotes NX Cash usage. Nexon as always.
Follow up on Brazil MS
It has seem that this year MapleStory will not just open their doors onto Brazil, but also to Vietnam! Vietnam is about 25% + (rough estimate from Nexon statistics) of MSEA’s players and like TMS (TMS was branched off from MSEA) vMS (lol) will also be branching off as a new maplestory. Here is the story.

Piece of Cake #7
Hey all,
No one had an answer for Piece of Cake #6, so here is a clue:
By “I need their heads”, I mean I need their first letters – HIJKLMNO. Notice anything? Which letters are they? And do you know chemistry?
Hope that’s a big enough clue
And now for today’s riddle:
It’s a Griddler/nonogram (for anyone who doesn’t know what that is, see This, or This, Or simply search Nonogram or Griddler on the web).
Since the image is to big to fit our site, please click here or on the thumbnail for the Nonogram.
I hope you enjoy it!
