New Gender Option… Apart from the Thanksgiving event, as well as the last event that I’ll mention, is Character Creation. Now, if you selected a male, you can make a female character. If you are a female character, you can make a male character. But why? Some people may of done male instead of female on accident, but it’s just werid. They want more girl gold-diggers? We will never know why they have done this, but they did. We’ll see how all of this works out, for Nexon and for the community.

MapleStory TCG!? WTF?

Posted by M3// Alvin On November - 17 - 2007

Well, it seems it has been alomst a month since maple trading cards come out, but they haven’t been very popular. In face I’ve seen them in Target, but haven’t bothered to touch them.http://ww2.wizards.com/maplestory/It is an offical product of NEXON, and it seems that for once in life gMS has one thing that all the other maple stories don’t have…Trading Card Games!!!pfft.Their just getting desperate, because less and less people are buying NX cards and Nexons fierce 3Million player population is losing to the famous “ijji” corporation, with their combined game force of GUNZ, GUNBOUND, and Soldier Front, and many other games, which don’t give premium members a big advantage (”pay members” get picked on in fact) against Nexon’s Maplestory, Audition, and KartRider. But it seems that TCG is also better than buying prepaid cards. Why? Even though it is a TCG, it is also sort of a pre paid card, it’s like a uhm, pre paid gacha, yeah.

GMS Thanksgiving NX Event

In Heneyes, Amoria, and New Leaf City, go to a vender store IN-GAME, ( Target, 7-11, CVS,RiteAid, Best Buy, or Duane Reades) and get the quest. I’ll list where the vendors are to my knowledgeTarget: Heneyes, CVS: Heneyes, 7-11, ( Amoria) and RiteAid, BestBuy and Duane Reades, are all in either NLC or Amoria ( don’t know)Doesn’t matter, there’s no difference between the vendors, if you like RiteAid then go there.. I just go to wherever I’m closer to. I’ll list all the items and give HP or MP information. Stuffing Scoop (1)[Restores 600 HP/ 600 MP]Cranberry Sauce (1)+30 Magic Attack for 3 minutesMashed Potato (1)Restores 800 MPGravy (1)Restores 800 MPGet one of each of those, and go to your parents ( Heneyes Hunting Ground II, top left, go on the rope that’s pink with a heart ontop)They will give you your allowance. Go back to one of the vendors, and they will give you an etc item that is either 250 NX cash card, or a 150 NX cash card. After the event, all your Nexon Cash Cards will be taken away and you will get Maple Points from them. You can do this once per day. Good luck!( Side note: Don’t do it on different chars. If you have 7 cards on one account, and 10 on the other, you’ll only get 10 cards worth, NOT 17, for example: 10 x 150 = 1.5k NX from that char, and that’s all you’ll get. You won’t get the 7 x 150) The greater amount of cards on a char is what you get.)

New Gift Function

In this patch, they included two major updates: Thanksgiving Events and the new Gift Function. The new Gift Function is surprisingly nothing like the traditional one, which failed and resulted in gifted Maplers (by “gifted,” I mean “given NX Cash”) being banned for NX Fraud. There have been many attempts to get those Maplers unbanned, but Nexon refuses to and we’re left with many people lunging at NxJoeW’s throat on the Nexon Forums.

Nexon made two significant changes to their gift function:

1) Nexon Game Cards ONLY! In order to gift someone, you need gift tokens, which are only attained by charging NX Cash from a Nexon Game Card.

2) Cash Items ONLY! Like other versions, you can now gift certain ITEMS instead of NX Cash itself. This prevents the classic NX Fraud, but to what extent? It seems that it’ll be harder to trace every single gifted Cash Item to prevent NX Fraud than before.

The gift function is more of a “wait and see” addition to MapleStory. We have to see how the Global community will react to this change… will they abuse it like before, or will this actually work? We’ll just have to wait and see.

Faded Dreams: A Story on my Hacked 12x Dragon Knight

MapleStory Beta

It all started with my Dragon Knight whose name was Julie. She was off rankings for some unknown reason. Julie was named after a friend of mine, who always cared for me, and was there all the time. At first, MapleStory was a new place to everyone who walked its paths, the opening of all games: the beta testing. I wasn’t well known around the beta maps. I wasn’t a hacker. I didn’t do those cheesy scams where people gave out account ID’S and passwords (no PIN’s at that time), and then let people on the account ’till they got it rich and scammed the account sharers. I wasn’t a person who liked to scam. I liked to have fun playing a game. Leveling was tough at first; it seemed like no one could level faster then one level every two hours. I watched all the beta testers fade, because, of course, they thought leveling was too hard. More and more faded, and it seemed like beta was empty.

Opening Day

Ahh. Opening Day of MapleStory. Beta was finished. About 10,000 people were waiting for the release of this game they thought was going to skyrocket. At first, what I believed was that it was going to be an unsuccessful game. That wasn’t what happened, of course. I made another Julie when opening day arrived, as well as a new friend. His name was Jay. Jay acted amiably, and we helped each other, making a lot of friends in the process! At one time, Jay asked me if he could have my account info so he could play when I was at school. I was about to fall into what most likely was the easiest scam to pull in MapleStory at the time, but I didn’t. Having been scammed before in other games and real life, this one didn’t trick me. I replied to him with a “No thanks, I’d like to level myself.”

Breaks

I got bored from Maplestory, so I quit for around 5 months. Julie was still a character nonetheless. My friends told me not to go back, but I did. So, what exactly happened to my account when I came back? Nothing like I had planned. I was afraid of that pesky Jay finding something out now. But he didn’t.

Training

When I came back, I decided that training was the best way to go. So, what I had planned was to train for about a month straight; maybe 13 hours a day. Crazy? Sure. But it was fun. I had reached level 60. Not the first 60, not even the second. I was maybe the 100th person to reach level 60. Most likely more. I didn’t care. What was ahead of me was a bright future. One day, I decided to take a break for the next week, because I had a vacation. When I came back, something caught my eye: THE CASH SHOP. The items in there were like heaven to me. I wanted them ALL. Of course, I bought too much: about $300’s worth. Then I got banned because they thought I was commiting NX Fraud. I was taken off the rankings, FOREVER.

Hacked

One afternoon, when I came home from school, a guy named Vanity80 chats me. He says he’s going to hack me, and that I should be scared. Why would I be scared? He didn’t have my info. So I reply with a “Here’s my info: badafgarea124 youcanthackme 5377.” He quickly logs off, and perhaps he tried it. The next day, I was hacked. My friend had told me that all his accounts had gotten hacked too. (My IRL friend since kindergarten had my info.) I searched his and my computer, and he had a keylog. Over 300 mil lost, and all my accounts hacked.Hard work, all gone. It isn’t worth it anymore. I’ve lost hope. Julie will never be the same.

MapleStory Trading Cards, iTCG Sparks the MapleStory Community

Will NX Cash fall and the TCG rise to the occasion, and replace NX Cash as the new way of real-money redemption? Wizards of The Coast has made numerous RPG games, such as Dungeons & Dragons, D20 Modern, and Star Wars. The iTCG gives many options when you buy a booster pack. Now at retail stores like Walmart, Target, and GameStop, they can give you rare pets, items, and new quests with rewards of never before seen items! Some of the comments on the offical annoucement on http://www.maplestory.nexon.net were ” Yay! Woot! Woohoo, they are finally out!” Together, Nexon and Wizards of the Coast have found another way to make big bucks. This time, they’re targeting a popular million-user MMORPG. Will WoTC and Nexon make more money than Nexon did with NX Cash?
